Brilliant find, I am on Intelligent Ocopus Go and first Summer with the incresed 15p Export rate. My system is certainly behaving differently and it will be interesting to see how this compares.

What a brilliant tool, Thanks for the pointer, Oliver. BTW, can you do some frames for me to put my printouts into, too? An excellent video, as always.

That tool is pretty cool, I've been pulling the data of the API myself since I've been with Octopus and trying to do the same but this tool does it all for you. It doesn't give me the same answers as I'm getting but I guess that will be issues in my code.

It's a great app/website, and worth highlighting that on ios you can create a bookmark link to it on the desktop so it looks and behaves just like any locally installed app. The tariff hopping is a great feature but unfortunately doesn't let you change your consumption profile through the year, eg overnight in winter you would probably charge your batteries if on a time of day tariff, but summer probably not. For me I'm not convinced about its figures, it suggests on the tariff hopper that Flux is slightly cheaper than Agile in the winter months, whereas on the tariff comparison it says that it's £200 more expensive which I think is correct, but anyway, great tool

In terms of its accuracy, it is spot on based on the data it has. However what the tariff comparison doesn't consider is that you would probably shift your usage pattern to align with the different tariffs in real life. And comparing with Agile is always going to be dodgy... it's just far too unpredictable! Still, I do agree it's a great tool for getting a rough idea of what could have happened

@@SpeakToTheGeekTech I think there is something wrong with the tariff hopping (which is in beta) for me as the winter Flux prices are very flow given my high ASHP consumption. The tariff comparison seems correct. Regardless its much easier to use than creating a spreadsheet 👍

I just finished downloading data to do my own calculations (I’ve set my battery to simulate using Flux over the past week). Current tariff Agile import with fixed 15p export. My calculations: Flux better by £7 per week. IO Flux could be better by £12 per week (if it works nicely). Octoprice app: Flux better by £4 per week. IO Flux could be better by £14 per week (if it works nicely). Promptly popped over to my account and signed up to give IO Flux a go…fingers crossed!

just out of interest how much is that lite export in pence per kwh, as one of my customers is now about to change
@SpeakToTheGeekTech

8p/kWh on lite so if you can get Intelligent Octopus Go for 15p export then it’s well worth doing that

Giving your API key is probabily not a good idea?
@SpeakToTheGeekTech
@SpeakToTheGeekTech 3 ай бұрын
It's a matter of trust. You can always revoke the API key after you've tested it and generate a new one. But also, we're trusting that the web site doesn't store it and it's kept totally locally in your browser. The developer has even shared the source code so as you can confirm that if you wanted, even host your own version. At the end of the day, if you don't want to share the API key though don't use the service.

Nice. NB though that it's not showing accurate cost for IOG actual usage - it's only able to use the default rate periods in the day, it doesn't account for extra cheap rate hours you may have got on top of the 23:30-05:30 window
@SpeakToTheGeekTech
@SpeakToTheGeekTech 3 ай бұрын
Fair enough, that would mean the IOG values are even better than they appear in the tool then
