This song could have been written for my husband & I. Children of the 80's, we grew up as friends, and became best friends later on... People came, people went, we had children (not together) & finally one day we asked what were we so afraid of losing -- and of course, the answer to that was a friendship so valuable we didn't want a relationship as a couple to destroy it - but we took that chance, almost 21 years ago, and we are still together today. It hasn't always been perfect, or easy, but thank God through it all I have always had my best friend when I needed him - and so has he. We are grateful every day we took that step we were so afraid of.

Had the pleasure of seeing REO Speedwagon in Las Vegas a couple years back in 2015. Loved when they played this song. So thoughtful.

Reo has always been great they are legends of rock

REO Speedwagon was the first concert I went to. It was in 2000 when I was about 4-5, and it was REO and Styx. I vaguely remember it. I remember it being loud and my aunt saying I should get up and dance with her. 20+ years later, 200+ concerts later, and 10+ REO concerts later, they are still one of the best and most fun performers I've seen (same with Styx). I've seen them more than any other band I've seen, and they are the only band I've seen 10 or more times. To this day, every time REO comes to town, it is a must-see show. When I visited Champaign, Illinois about 5 years ago (where the band got their start), I took a photo of the Main Street sign: the street was renamed REO Speedwagon Way some years ago. As an music lover and and avid concert goer, they hold a special place in my heart and memory.
