John Conway I've always loved the Carpenters, but I'd have to say Stevie Nicks is the best I may be forgetting an oldie that could out sing her, but I'm going to look back and make sure I havent totally forgotten someone as I'm writing this I'm thinking damn, Etta James so it's tough....

There's nothing weird about having great taste. Most of today's music is disposable and easily forgotten. The Carpenters music is timeless because of Richard's wonderful intricate melodies and Karen's voice (which I consider the purest and most effortless in pop music history)

When you listen to Karen Carpenter, there is just no stress in her voice, it's clear and concise, she can reach those high notes with no effort. The music world lost one of the most beautiful voices when we lost her. An amazing talent whose candle burned out much too quick.

When I was 5 (1982) my mom got breast cancer. Before she got it, she would play this song on the piano and I would listen. When she was going through with the mastectomy I would think about this song and cry and hurt and worry. Thankfully she lived and is still with me. 29 years later and I'm a grown man and I still cry when I hear it. I love you mom and I can't smile without you.

The Carpenters actually released this song on their 1976 album two years before Barry Manilow sang it. The Carpenters hadn't released it as a single however, and it's now known as Barry's song.

I wasn't even born yet when all those good oldies were out. However, I love oldies. People think that I am weird and say that I am too young for this. Well, a lot of those songs I have never heard, I still listen to them like they are "new" songs. The more I listen to oldies, the more I like them. I was so sad that Karen died so young. I don't know if he heard anything specific in the music box that made him come around, but now, I can't think of this song without thinking about whiskers.

I did not realize she died of anorexia. Very sad. Karen has a pure voice. She hits the notes purely when she goes after them and does not do the "scooping" into notes that many do today. She uses vibrato sparingly and tastefully. We sang their songs on long road trips, 6 kids and parents. Still remember all the words.

It's long time ago. I had never know myself never smile happily until I saw someone doing something good for others people and I'm able to involve. What he is and his personality that make me smile recently. I think , because people I met mostly want happiness for themself so they want others to make them smile but the man, who make me smile, his happiness is to make others smile. Even though, he is just digital creater and we will never meet, but he can change me to have that smiling face. He'll never know these but I know it. I'm too old to walk into someone's life and I'm happier the way I'm living and being single. Thank, thank, thank, million thanks for kindness creation of you guys. 😊
