Heard this live and had it on EMI C120 for years before it succumbed. Brilliant to find it again amongst other rare BBC outakes, Bakerloo Line with Ann etc

Brilliant! Shhh! Loved it. Saw Can couple of times back in the day. This reminds me of that "I don't quite know what I'm listening to, but I do know I like it" feeling I had when I went to see them.

The same year I saw them at the Stoneground in Bellevue, Manchester. Was already a fan. Especially memorable as I'd taken a camera :-)

Can't kick the CAN. One of my very favorite pieces of music in general. ("... BRILLIANT!" "Shh!" You can imagine them all just wide-eyed, staring... mouths hanging open... their hair, blown back, refusing to settle back down to their previous shapes... processing what they'd just heard...)

I recorded this on cassette when it was broadcast and listened to it many times. That guy in the audience at the end who shouts and then the shooosh noises. Same comment as Thomas below!! I saw them later that year.

Thank you for your upload. I’ve been searching it, because I had copy of this tape in old time. Finally, I found it here. I think first introduction is longer than it, introduce all members, but the MC didn’t know a correct pronunciation of Holger Czukay’s name.
@molotovctail6972 Жыл бұрын
He struggled with most of the names but I think it was 'Jaki Liebezeit' !! The MC was a BBC Radio1 DJ, Pete Drummond perhaps. Oh he's listed above.. the memory bank works!

So beautiful. It's called 'tat gedet gar nit', because that was the response from one of the band's roadies when someone from the bbc asked for a title to the piece that they'd be playing! Like, you must be joking, you're having a laugh, or more literally, that just doesn't go. I'm just glad it's here at all, the beeb never played it again as far as I know, it never pops up in their 6music sessions/concerts slot, and it should! Likewise the whistle test pieces they recorded on that same visit, one was aired, 4 were recorded.

I hear a reminiscence of "Gomorrha" from the Unlimited Edition, recorded in December '73 (one of their earliest session sans Suzuki I think).
@pettra1 Жыл бұрын
Limited Edition came out in 1973, Unlimited Edition in 1976.

It pre-echoes some of the harmonic dischordance?? dissonance (that shimmering sound) that one hears in "flow motion" I think. maybe its several instruments in close registers. anyway, very nice, thanks Lars, thanks Can.

Amazing long version of an improvised Gomorrha & could/should definitely have been included on Lost Tapes ;-)

11:22 How do you do these organ "stabs" without a sequencer of some sort, like does he just beat onto the keyboard like he does in that one video for "I'm too leise"?
