You need to keep track of connectiong your territories. You won't get the ressources for diconnected ones. In this map, there was a major territory on the road near your base which is very important. Good game though :)

That was a fun match to watch. Your opponent clearly had more knowledge about the game but you had the RTS skills! He had so many squads get wiped and you had so few! Regarding the tanks practice backing them up in reverse by right clicking nearby behind them or by rapidly shift-queuing right clicks behind them.

Unfortunately that is incorrect, unless you've remapped your default controls. To reverse, you select the vehicle and hit 'R', then left click to where you want the unit to reverse to
@gdray82

@@TehGnomeh Yes, you can also do it with the reverse button, but the method I mentioned works as well, although not as well as it did in previous Coh titles. you have to click behind the vehicle and drag to face.

Don't really think he had much more knowledge. Turin was naked exposed to enemy armor for a painfully long time. Had his opponent noticed that, he would have steamrolled him with p3s much earlier and shutdown his artillery. Instead he kept throwing infantry piece meal and suicided his stug for no reason.

Some Pro tips for you Turin! -Fuel is super important. You will want to consider what points you first start capping depending on if you want early fuel or not. -Vision is super important. Your machine guns, mortars and anti tank weapons generally want at least 1 unit spotting for them in order to be super effective. -Machine guns usually want cover, but it's not at all mandatory. You can cover them more effectively by having vision and security provided by other units. At around the 7 minute mark, it would have been wiser to have your unit move south to flank the enemy machine gun than to have them build a requisition point. If you can win engagements, you then want to turn that into map control. You do that by moving your troops up the map and try and pin them into their base, or otherwise just outside it. Sadly, I think requisition points are a 'win more' luxury item more often than not.
@jamesespinosa690
@jamesespinosa690 Жыл бұрын
Instead of splitting between the top and bottom point, I recommend you pick two points close to each other. You can start at the top or bottom and battle your way to the mid point, capture and hold. Or you can try a rush/tempo build, take the mid, and push through towards the enemies half of the map, pin them in their base. And capture everything behind you.
@jamesespinosa690
@jamesespinosa690 Жыл бұрын
Once you were in a stalemate with your machine on the bottom point, you should have pulled it off the point and repositioned it. Vehicles take more or less damage based on the facing that gets hit. It's important to keep the front of the tank pointing towards wherever you're expecting to get shot at by AA. You can get them to reverse out of danger by pressing R to put them into reverse gear. This can make the difference between your tank living and dying!

I find that munitions is usually the make or break in longer games. If you can stretch your individual squads' effectiveness more than the other guy (and lay a ton of mines), you'll make up the difference in fuel and more. Unless your opponent gimps themselves by building a ton of fuel points, the difference in fuel timings for LVs and tanks is always less than a minute and if they do go hard on fuel points they're throwing out 400-600 manpower that you can just use to overrun them.

Important play when you overcommit your armor and need to get out asap is using reverse. Always face enemy since rear and flanks have more vulnerable armor, that's why reverse is so important. You can usually tell you're playing against a high level player when they do this, flawless micro like this played a huge role in coh2 at least.

Can't wait for more CoH stuff on the channel (and maybe total tavern tournaments?). Just a few tips from a CoH vet: 1. You can tell your tanks which way to face. If i remember correctly, it's right click and drag? Or maybe there's a hotkey on the unit commands, it's been a while. 2. that vehicle he was stomping your light tanks with looked like a tank-hunter. you can wreck them with your AT gun teams but they will make short work of your vehicles 3. cover is love. cover is life. 4. You were right to rush the AT gun teams with your infantry when the AT gun was unprotected - if you move past them, they won't have the benefit of the front-facing cover of the weapon emplacement and your basic infantry will cut them down quick.

Your TW videos are great, but it's excellent to see you playing CoH. If you like it and end up playing more, I think you're gonna be a beast at this game. Some tips you may already know: - Your opponent had tank-destroyers with fixed guns, while your Stuart tanks are turreted. With good micro, you can flank and kill a fixed-gun tank destroyer while it awkwardly rotates to aim at you. - Fuel = tech. You did a great job of holding fuel, but you could have spent more of it to get the last base building and some stronger units. Depriving your enemy of fuel is the key economic play in CoH. - Most artillery isn't great versus tanks. It's most effective versus team weapons and infantry (obvs). - Some infantry, like Tommies, have anti-tank grenades that can do serious damage to lighter vehicles like halftracks and armored cars. - Anti-tank guns like the UK 6-pounder can be extremely cost effective if you keep them alive. - Paradropping infantry can get shot while they're parachuting, so be careful when dropping them directly on the enemy. - Off-map artillery and airstrike abilities typically can't be targeted in the FoW. You need to reveal the target area first. - Silly game bug/problem -- engineers didn't repair your Centaur because it can be "ridden". They got on the Centaur! To repair some tanks, you need to manually use the Repair ability -- click the button or use the hotkey.

Never thought it'd be "Teaching" Turin something, but ... :D Unless you are SURE that there's no AT around your vehicles, it's generally best to use "Reverse" to drive them around/retreat. If you just right click they'll turn around and get shot in the back, which is less than 50% less armour. Also, a bit less retreating, a bit more micro and front-line reinforcements. CoH is really similar to Quake in the way good aim/micro is important, but ultimately the one who controls the map wins - be it red armours and megas or the resource points. It's less like TW games that are very much rock-paper-shotgun based, CoH is way more about map control and positioning. And final "tip" - ideally you want to spend all your ressources all the time, unless you are really saving for something particular. In this game i noticed you are sitting on 300+ ammo, which can be used to upgrade your guys, deploy mines, call in off map stuff or just use nades and other nasty shit like that ;). Same goes for manpower and fuel - if you are stockpiling it, you are "wasting" it.

The game needs polish but it still looks very promising, I really think it has a ton of potential. Relic needs about 6 more months of development to refine the game but mod support will also help a lot. I think this will turn out to be the best game in the franchise when it’s all said and done. Relic is listening to community feedback, learning from past mistakes, and committed to doing right by the franchise.

Great show again duder! So many little pointers to give you to up your game, I think it would be best to look up COh1 wiki... Lot's of great tips in there that will defo help you out. Just an example, your mine spam, could be more effective if you spread them out more (1 rogue shell sets them all off and you lose 75 MUN), Unit preservation (Vet is super important and will win you battles), Smoke cover from your arty (just one click and you can use your mobile arty to spam smoke, get your commandos close), Use your engies to build sandbags/wire off enemy cover (deny them green cover). You are defo getting into the psychological warfare aspect of Coh (Landmines make players hesitate to approach so start mining the green cover). I'm eager to see you progress!

Damn, what an epic game!!! I'm no pro but the tip I'd offer is that you definitely under-microd all of your tanks. Maybe if you have a micro cycle of going through all your units normally, when you get an important piece like that you can weave them in more often - micro them, something else, back to them, 3rd thing, etc. GG!

The centaur is a great anti infantry tank, sticking it on the center point would have taken some stress off your plate. Also when you sent tour engineers to repair it, you misclicked and had them mount the vehicle instead. I never "backseat game or give unsolicited advice, especially from a comfortable pov, but you requested it at the end of the video so I hope it helps a little! 😊

Quick tip to slightly improve the graphics until we get a fix for these bright and washed out visuals. Set the brightness to 0% and disable the anti-aliasing. The low brightness helps a bit with the washed out colors and the anti-aliasing just blurs the whole image and makes the colors look even more washed out than they already are. This will help a lot to distinguish the units from the terrain and makes the game look better, at least in my humble opinion.

If you build resources caches in the early game the ennemy will overwhelm you as they funnel their manpower into fighting units. Caches are things you build only when you are floating resources OR when it is a bigger team game mode where you can afford to sacrifice some early power for late game advantage. Honestly in a 1 vs 1 building a single cache early game can cost you the game if we are talking about a medium to high-level game.

The territory you captured in the south was cut off as you didn't capture the road and thus didn't give you any resources, it's indicated by the flashing area on the minimap. The M3 should have either retreated from the marder, or rush forward and circle around it as it doesn't have a turret, although that can be dangerous if it's supported by other anti tank units

I hate that they still show flares where your artillery is going. Its really annoying. Also unlike in Total war you can just order your unit to do something then try to play the macro game. I think COH is more micro focused and its all about keeping your guys alive, Spotting is key. Your motors and arty will be much more effective. Make use of those paras to do your scouting. Pay attention to your tank. You pulled it back. didnt repair it. Its just sitting there wasted manpower. Use the tank as cover move up with it with infantry. All things considered as you havent played the other games you actually played a good game, well done.

I'd suggest go for fuel first thing every game. Fuel is life in coh games, I can't imagine they have changed it in coh3. Sandbags and tank traps provide heavy cover and should be placed on your side of the capture point flag towers. It will provide you a good position and if placed correctly against the tower will not provide any benefit for the opponent.
@Amonabus

Points you capture are reliant on other captured territories to connect to your home base to provide resources. Any territory disconnected from your base will not provide anything and will be shown flashing on the minimap.

Another thing, artillery vehicles can be left to their own in open battle field when micro is going nuts. You could shift click commands in coh2. Shift, call artillery + give them a waypoint back in base. I'm not sure about coh3, but that would allow you to arty a spot and they would drive back to safety after the bombard is complete.

This applied to everything in Coh2; wanna nade a squad and move? shift click. Want smoke mortars to be followed by a barrage? shift click. Makes me wonder if click dragging(without letting go of the drag) and holding the retreat hotkey would still instantly retreat units coming out of buildings within the drag box in coh3.

How do you feel about the zoom of this game? Right now, it looks too zoomed in for me. CoH1, CoH2 even DoW2 (arguably one of the most up close and personal RTS with squad / cover mechanics) had more zoomed out view than this game. The unit models arent even that great so zooming out will only help them hide the ugly parts. I most likely wont buy this game unless that is addressed.

I tried this beta yesterday and the tutorial was so bad at teaching you how to play that I thought I was playing another game in coop vs ai. I didn't have the same basic units while keeping everything by default, I didn't even see the little button for your commandments (didn't know it even exists). The result was as expected, my teammate seemed to have the same issues because we were crushed pretty easily by an overly aggressive ai that had everything to counter whatever we were throwing at him. (you start with scouts and engineers that can barely fight vs machinegun infantry with grenades... tanks at 5 min mark when we were using anti infantry vehicles...) One of the worst experiences in a beta in a long time. I played coh 1 and 2, not much, but at least I could go through the campaign without much issues. The UI does a bad job at telling you what you'll get by building this or that (generic tooltip), so you spend resources in useless troops, and unless you know what you're doing (which me and my teamate obviously didn't), makes it impossible to do anything. I had snipers when there were tanks... then I built the vehicle building only to see anti infantry vehicles in it... There seemed to be very few people playing too as I waited 2 whole minutes to find a coop partner for a 2V2 vs ai. All in all it felt like old coh, nothing new, but tailored for (to ?) experienced players. EDIT: I see that Turin is playing 1V1, I couldn't even select 1V1, it was there but greyed out. Could only select 2v2, 3v3 and 4V4.
