I think I need to dive deeper in the m12 line for the weight difference since they are powerful enough. Looking at the fuel m12 osalater and impact driver

I use M12 about 90% of the time. The only time I really use M18 is for longer battery life on all day jobs… and occasionally power/speed on impacts. The fuel oscillator and the surge are great in my opinion. I just got the newer impact and it’s good, but not a significant power advantage to the surge.

Thank you!! I was contemplating this because the RPM's on this saw are in the appropriate range. Most wood circular saws are 2,000 RPM's FASTER, so I suspected this was true and your video confirmed it! Thanks!

Just took a chance on the little saw. Bought it without looking at reviews thinking surely it will do all i want it for. Which will be cutting 2x4's & 2x6's around the house rather than pulling out the big 18v saws for quick jobs.
@MORGANSMaintenance

I use it on almost all my 2x4 framing jobs that aren’t worth hauling and setting up a miter saw. I really like it. I have the Rear Handle 18v, but it’s so heavy I don’t use it unless I have too. They have a new Gen of it coming out, I didn’t see any big differences that are going to make me upgrade

For me…This isn’t the tool of choice for this. I would almost always get out my small Bandsaw. There may be a rip cut I run into in the future on something that it could work for. When he asked I was curious and thought I’d give it a try.

@@thepitpatrol Thank you! I had Bosch & Dewalt When I had the old Dewalt 18v I felt it was good compared to others. I got some of the 20V but it just hasn’t done it for me. @@MORGANSMaintenance i have the m12 saw and the M18 5" bandsaw, as well. I take the m12 everywhere for small jobs. Take the M18 for framing jobs, for wood. I took on a job doing metal framing, I bought the metal saw. That thing cuts metal like a beauty, it helps a lot with metal shavings, as it has a chamber for collection. Now the m12 does have your regular pullback guard lever, however the metal saw, because of it's chamber location, has the pullback guard in a different location and it turns out it's much more convenient. I've yet to test the saw n blade with rebar. I used the bandsaw on rebar and the blade gives out quickly, the reason I bought this metal saw, it's for another job cutting rebar.

@@webtheweb thanks for your feedback on the metal saw. I occasionally do metal stud framing but typically just 20 gauge. I normally use snips then score with a knife using a square and bend them till they snap off. (Primarily for sound). I don’t do metal enough to buy specific tools, but who know… maybe one day. Know I know it’s good.

@@MORGANSMaintenance the fuel one does have plenty of power. I just hate the way you have to push the safety switch and trigger at the same time. I know you have to with a circular saw too but it’s way more awkward on the bandsaw

Circular saws can cut plastic but sometimes it will chip depending on the type/condition of the plastic. You can try several things. You will need a blade with either a lot of teeth, a blade made for vinyl/ plastic, or you can try putting a blade on with the teeth backwards. It’s really trial and error on the specific plastic you are using to see what works best. You can do the backwards blade and maybe a higher tooth count with this saw… but special blades (like the vinyl/plastic) are hard to find in smaller saws like this
