AMD chose to include RT hardware in the RX 6500 XT (despite cutting back virtually everything else). Is this a good enough reason to choose it over a secondhand RX 5500 XT, RX 590 or GTX 1070?

just use shaders lol. only minecraft needs ray tracing to look better. and all the heavy lifting is the shaders that you can get with free mods. even other cube games like teardown look just as good without rtx.

@@alex-qn5xp Do you? Simulated lighting looks just as good and even better many times compared to Ray Tracing. Ray Tracing is an unnecessary gimmick.

Nvidia budget card can ray trace 3050, 3060 and 3060 ti can do pretty good. I've used 3060 ti max settings at 3440x1440p, ray tracing with dlss performance + boost at around 50-60fps on hogwarts legacy.

I'd shorten that to 'don't get a 6500 XT'. You can get faster cards with a minor bit of digging for less money anyway, even now that it's under MSRP. A shame that the GPU ever escaped the clutches of the laptops it was destined to be fitted into.

@@luvsanjamtsbayraa9418 Even with RT off, the RX 6500XT performs terribly in most games, for the price, and with only 4gb of VRAM, it's pretty much irrelevant nowadays. There's no excuse for getting this GPU

@@cpsupport6441 it heavily depends on what ray tracing technology the game uses. amd is basically shunned by rtx because they are nvideas rival. but for KZfaq the 12gb gpu should be great. rtx is a bit gimmicky when you think about how good normal lighting trickery is. although if you are starting with a whole new motherboard you should consider amd's 7000 series cpus. its not worth upgrading to because you need an am5 motherboard and ddr5 ram. but if you are starting fresh its worth checking out.

@@simonhoel2704amd isn't "shunned" from rtx. they just don't have dedicated RT cores so it runs like ass. it's like trying to render a scene via software (CPU) rendering. it works, but really slowly

if you think you need ray tracing just get a 1440p 144hz monitor instead. way more immersive. you basically have to train yourself to not appreciate a game without ray tracing. and if the lighting is lackluster just get shaders.

This is pretty close to the GPU in the Series S. They've somehow managed to pull off Ray Tracing in a few games but with quite low internal resolutions which makes sense.

It does good at regular games that do more cpu but man does it get hot on heavy usage gpu games like it struggles at some points like medium on SW Jedi Survivor and Cyberpunk too

If there's any game people will do raytracing without ray tracing capable cards is Minecraft should do Minecraft raytracing (java since bedrock requires nvidia)

problem is that it's doing all RT calculations in the normal cores. that's why Nvidia's cards are so good at it, it's not some conspiracy that all RT softwares are paid off by Nvidia to run like ass on AMD. i see a lot of people saying that

@@xboxnerd4759 the guy's right, its a lower end gpu, it's like expecting a 1070 to do raytracing, impossible. 6700xt and newer higher end amd cards are capable of better ray tracing, even tho its not AMD's main focus for their gpus.

rx 6500 xt ray tracing actualy good on forza horizon 5 with high setting, do you even try it, it also has realistic graphics everywhere in game

Forza Horizon 5's RT effects are limited to two uses- Forza Vista and your home garage. In-game, it just uses normal SSR for reflections and conventional methods for lighting and shadows. I have tested the card in FH5, but not with RT enabled and not in those specific scenes. It does fine, about 65 FPS at 1080 High.
