Hi friends! In today's episode of Relaxing Reviews, I take a look at the **inhales deeply** Corsair K70 RGB TKL OPX Champion Series Optical-Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, to give it its full official title. This keyboard is more mainstream-oriented than my usual subjects, and is marketed towards the e-sports pro gamer crowd. I'm very curious to find out how it stacks up against some of the more niche and enthusiast-oriented mechanical keyboards that I review here. I'm especially interested because my very first mechanical keyboard ever was a Corsair K70 that I got almost a decade ago. How has the K70 progressed since then? Has Corsair continued to innovate and refine their keyboards in the intervening years, or does it get by on brand recognition alone? Perhaps most importantly of all, how does the K70 RGB TKL sound for ASMR?? These questions and more are answered within. Enjoy!
ASMR triggers include ear-to-ear soft speaking, incidental mouth sounds, tapping, unboxing sounds, and of course plenty of typing sounds. I recommend listening with headphones for the best experience!

I’m surprised you didn’t take the a key cap off and look at its thickness or check stabilisers for oil, otherwise great vid, razor/Corsair/ etc have stagnated so much in keyboard tech.

@@DonnyRongoAU keycap was at 31:48 and the stabs at 40:18 and also i have to disagree, razer keyboards are still breaking fast and corsair, as you can see in the video, is very pingy, wobbly and also the stabs are very rattly. This is not acceptable at 140$ imo, for that price you can get a keychron q1 which has a wqy better typing feel and is full aluminium

Still running my K70 from years ago. It does seem like the build quality has decreased significantly for these new boards sadly.

The old K70s are solid! The new one feels lighter and somewhat cheaper, although I reckon it will last well too. The keycaps on the newer model are definitely better. I just wish it felt nicer to type on.

That's awesome!! Funny enough, I also had a guy compliment my ITAM shirt today and ask me where I got it! They're definitely eye-catching. And no, I don't have a script or prompt or anything for the promos, but I do usually record 2 or 3 takes, and then pick the best, or sometimes splice a couple together to get an optimal take. One day I'll invest in a teleprompter and it'll make it so much easier 😂

I like when you review these more mainstream keyboards. I wish you would take a look at more popular keyboards like Razor, Steel series, Corsair, Logitech and Asus because most people like myself are more familiar with those brands and want to know which are superior among them.

i had this board and switched from it recently, its very good and the sound is decent for this kinda board, but around a year of use my most used keys started to fail. picture you are peaking a corner but when u try to go back into cover, the D key missed inputs and u cant move :(

OPX = OEM geteron optical switch ( silver ) . You can hotswap with geteron family optical switch ( red white yellow blue tea black ) and swap stem spring or lube .

Oh this is great to know, thank you! I figured Corsair must have partnered with an OEM for the switches, but I didn't realize the OPX switches are literally just rebranded Gateron opticals. That's...awfully lazy of Corsair. Good for owners of this board, though, because it gives them some extra options!

I still use my k70 if I play any MMO game or edit a video! Best 200$ spent. I have the white key caps on my keyboard tho.

My 8 year old K70 is still going strong, looks like the build quality has plummeted though. Possibly time for an upgrade.

The old ones were built very solid! Aside from a few dead LEDs and a few worn-looking keycaps, my 2013 K70 is still in perfect shape. The new one feels substantially lighter and just less solid overall, sadly.

Oh really? That's very good to know. It sounds like it may not be an isolated issue after all. It surprises me that a company as big as Corsair wouldn't have better QC when it comes to such a critical connector.

I just returned mine. I don't think there is any quality to the keys at all, they are clacky and hollow sounding, just sounds cheap not premium. Mine wasn't the optical version of was the grey mechanical ones. Your board sounds exactly like the one I bought.

I think it really depends on what you're using it for. If you just want it for your keyboard, then yeah, it's bloated beyond belief. If you're in the Corsair ecosystem with other RGB hardware, though, then I could see it being nice to have one place to manage all that stuff. It would be nice if they offered a cut-down version for people who only want to use it for managing their keyboard.

@@theASMRnerd It's still crazy that it's 1GB! The programs I use to do the same thing (VIA, OpenRGB, and HWiNFO64) total to just ~110MB Plus it didn't work correctly at first either...and I still think that one screen with half a keyboard on it is glitched out lol But that's a lot of words basically just say what you said in your last sentence haha
