Around 2010 NBA still had a large amount of post talent that could make Horseman Jokic have trouble guarding and staying out of foul trouble. Dwight, Garnett, Duncan, Pau Gasol, Z-BO & Marc Gasol, Al Jefferson, Yao, Dirk, Amare, Old Shaq. But some of these dudes won't be able to guard in today's switching era...

@@FTO9797 it was pre season. now he must play 3 games each week (+ travel). I don't think he can play 35 min at this rythme all a year at least in his rookie year. He only played 40 games in France (1 game by week except play off) and France is smaller than USA for travel. Spurs must be careful. If I was Spurs, I will give him 25 min max average in year 1, and 30 min in year 2, because spurs don't have a team for play off so spurs don't need to take any risk.

Kawhi and PG couldn't beat a young Nuggets team when those 2 were at their peak. Jokic and Murray have leveled up since then and the supporting cast is better. No chance the Clippers do anything. If Boston found a way to get Jrue Holiday and keep Robert Williams (instead of Porzingis) the Celtics are the best bet. Horford's intelligence on defense combined with Williams' size and athleticism can help make Jokic work (you can't stop Jokic, just try to slow him down). Jrue/Tatum/Brown giving Murray different looks would help too. Right now, there isn't a single team that has the roster to beat a healthy Nuggets team. Jokic is the best player in the world and the Nuggets have the best team chemistry.

Joel Embiid cannot cause any problems for Nikola Jokic. Embiid is afraid of Jokic. Not only does he constantly duck Jokic in Denver, but Joel was terrified of guarding him for a full game in Philadelphia. Embiid had to hide behind PJ Tucker because Jokic was cooking him and then Embiid was a frontrunner when Jokic saw he was scared and decided to stop trying. AD at least has the courage to try to guard Jokic (he'll fail just like everyone because Jokic can't be guarded 1 on 1). Joel won't even make an attempt.

Embiid guarded Jokic at first but then they switched PJ on to him and let Embiid be the help defender. That’s literally the same thing the Lakers did with AD. Jokic had like 24 points that game so that’s not really cooking. Embiid definitely cooked Jokic that game tho. He had 40 something right?
@TheMilapMehta
@TheMilapMehta 7 ай бұрын
@@taj3618 What game are you talking about with 24? AD had multiple games last year where he was the primary defender on Jokic throughout the game. Joel has ducked Denver in Denver for years and took the entire second half off. Joel did not cook Jokic in their matchup last year, he was a frontrunner. In the first half Jokic won the matchup between the 2 and then Jokic stopped trying in the second half which is why Joel got to put up numbers. If Joel was brave enough to actually guard Jokic, that game doesn't turn out the same.

Following the trend, you are right. Its rare to see 7’4” guys playing solid for a long time. But hey, trends are meant to be broken. No one expected either that a 7’4” player can do what wemby’s been doin’ lately. Shoot, dribble, pass, block shots, and be so fluid and mobile.

I think Lopez has better chance even though AD is a better defensive player overall. AD stated this a lot in the pass he didn't like to play center (mostly on defensive end guarding other team center/a lot of banging down low) and AD has to conserve his energy to play on offense too. Lopez is bigger and can fully committed guarding jokic while giannis and dame running the offense
