'Can' is the present tense version of the word and 'could' is the past tense version of the word. 'Could' is also used when a condition must be fulfilled in order for the thing to happen. When asking someone to do something, either word can be used, but 'could' is considered to be more polite.

Can (present)-முடியும் could (past) -முடிந்தது Ex. I can go -நான் போக முடியும்(present)/என்னால் போக முடியும். I could go-நான் போக முடிந்தது (past)/என்னால் போக முடிந்தது. எங்கே/எப்போது/எதுக்கு -இதயெல்லாம் sentence பிறகு சேர்க்க வேண்டும் Ex.i can go home(home வந்து எங்கே போகிறோம் என்பதை குறிக்கிறது

Madam, in the second set of sentences, the first two sentences are erroneous. In the first sentence, could and able - both should not come together. I could or I was able to. In the second one, after the modal auxiliary could, only the base form of the verb, speak should be used. Please rectify

அன்புள்ள ஆசிரியை அவர்களே... It is quite acceptable. (Your explanation for can and could) but the pronunciation for the words didn't, couldn't is not proper (Most of the people commit the same error) Actually 'didn't is not to be pronounced as டிடிண்ட். அது தவறான உச்சரிப்பு. டிண்ட் என்றுதான் உச்சரிக்க வேண்டும். அதிலும் சில சமயங்களில் விகுதியான “ட்“க்கும் உச்சரிப்பு கிடையாது. I didn't ask. / அய் டிண்டாஸ்க்/ (அதை விட்டு அய் டிடிண்டாஸ்க் என்பது முறையல்ல .) அடுத்து I didn't come. / அய் டிண் கம் / இங்கு டிண் என்றுதான் உச்சரிக்க முடியுமே தவிர டிண்ட் என உச்சரிக்க முடியாது. என் உரையில் தவறிருப்பின் 9842792300 என்ற எண்ணுக்கு என்னை அழைத்து திருத்தலாம். நன்றி

you have explained excellently about the usage of can and could. You have also clarified some common errors committed by students. It would have been better if you had explained that we could use " I can't come tomorrow" or " I am not able to come tomorrow." And you must have added the following. We use " could " for a polite request. When we need help from elders or respectable persons, we must use " could" Eg. Could you please permit me to go earlier ? When we request help from youngsters or ordinary persons we can say, " Can you please help me ? " The flow of speech and voice fine ma.
