To get the sound over 4K you need to change the cats/mid section to an x-pipe setup. Makes it sound like it revs much higher than it does.

I drive a 996.2 GT3 Clubsport. I admit, your car sounds very good and in some ways similar to mine but the GT3 has more of a raw and raspy sound above 4000. And yes it revs higher t 8200 or 8300. Also remember it is another engine. GT3 basis is the 993 block (Mezger), same as the GT1 just without turbos 😁

I think it sounds fantastic! Maybe not exactly like a gt3, I don’t know I haven’t listened to many very carefully but in the part side by side I think yours sounds similar, if not better imo lol. That throatiness(?) just sounds pretty great.

I did a hack to my mufflers on my '99 996. Welded top cross over 2" pipes and 1.5" middle pipes. It sounds awesome. Very neighborhood friendly. But at 4K RPM's it comes alive.. It sounds awesome with some back pop when deaccelerating.

I was looking for an exhaust upgrade for my 99/911/996, nothing crazy loud, & ran into your great video, I recently installed an IPD plenum on mine, & I loved it! I have not heard of BBE, ( always fabspeed, & soul Exhaust ) What headers did you install? I loved the sound of your car. Thank you much.

I beleive if you went fully catless that it would sound more like a GT3 and have that characteristic high pitch wail in the upper rpms. The M97 motor in my car is very similar to the M96 in yours; but combined w longtube EQUAL LENGTH headers and highflow mufflers and x-pipe it sounds like mini GT3. The design and build quality (thickness of steel used) of the headers and exhaust also eliminated rasp. I went with Soul. I have had a GT3 owner comeup to me after he drove behind me during a spirited cruise and ask how come my car sounds like a GT3.

I love these 996.1 Aero kit cars. This looks like a proper example too.

Your exhaust sounds very similar to mine, and all I did is a fister mod. Stock headers and cats. Im curious to see how those billy headers and fister modded mufflers would sound. Your system does sound very nice though.

My 996.1 came with a Gundo hack (or one of those depending on who you ask😂) and an IPD plenum and a gt3 throttle body. Sounded pretty good under load. I added a k&n intake. Now she sounds awesome!! I definitely recommend it. And don’t buy into the internet lore about it sucking in hot air. It’s horseshit. Maybe when it’s sitting on a dyno, but not on road. Has been tested using the IAT signal.

There is a video of a 996.1 with a 996 gt3 muffler fitted... and it sounds 90% of a GT3. Look up on youtube non Gt3's with GT exhausts and they sound like Gt3's, even air cooled cars.

People think if u put any exhaust in base 911 and it's gone GT3. GT3 have different engine and different tone than base or S. Def not same as GT3. I have 997. I had long tube headers and gundo hack. Sounds better than stock but not GT3 like
