As the son of a Giants fan and the son-in-law of a Dodgers fan, I can assure you that recent history aside, SF/LA hate each other more than they even pay attention to the Padres.

Jolly is a New Yorker. He doesn't get it. They don't stay up to watch west coast games, and they don't have many west coast people in their office. Ryan is a Padres fan, so I'm sure he tells them how much he hates the Dodgers. But no Dodgers fan will tell you they consider the Padres the primary rival.

It's interesting that the difference between this and previously is that earlier, guys would come in with a "let's have some fun, whatever" attitude, but now that it counts for stuff the nerves are playing a role.

Easy was easy, but I'm a Red Sox guy. Medium was hard, had no idea. Hard was medium. My initial thought was Steve Avery but it was too recent with no Boston stop. The ERA title in Cleveland was really the big hint.

I think the only reason I got Millwood was because he was used before (I'm not crazy, right?) Also, my initial thought on the final round was Kevin Brown, who got close despite only one Padre season

My first thought was Matt Kemp, but I knew he wasn't on the Padres that long and wasn't really a high-WAR guy outside of 2011. Then I thought Steve Garvey, but I knew he is one of those guys whose WAR is lot lower than you think it would be. Was still leaning towards him, until I thought of Kevin Brown. But I was pretty sure he'd only played one season with the Padres, and, while he was great, I think I'd remember a 10 WAR season. (He actually had 9.1) I was going to say Brown when Adrian Gonzalez popped into my head. And I was ashamed for even thinking of the other three. Like you said, it is so obvious.

Took ages on the medium because I sae that one Twins year and thought "it's either Orlando Cabrera or the one guy I keep confusing with Orlando Cabrera." Eliminated Cabrera because I remembered his one Twins year was '09 (homered in Game 163) and took like 5 more minutes to remember the correct name.
