I commented this but want to say it here while it's early in hopes you'll read it and mention it to Jazza. Since y'all are close and I think it's a good thing to think about. As someone who uses alcohol markers constantly but it's so expensive and often doesn't have the features I need! I really hope jazza makes his markers in the future even as their own individual unit. I personally have yet to find an good alcohol marker that has the two things I want like that. Which is brush tip and a micro NIB not liner. Like seriously I would only buy his line as a furry artist for my works because of that feature alone.

I've wanted to see you use it for forever. I haven't tried this trick myself yet but apparently after you shrink them the first time you can set them on top of each other and actually melt them together into a single piece making it layered.

@@kristinaslocum2044 I make my own medic alert bands in all different colors with it- while the sheet is still hot and malleable I curve them over a wine bottle to get a wrist shaped curve (like the real ones have).

I am into painting minis, making dioramas etc. I have some cheap shrink plastic and somehow never thought about making stuff for these types of projects with it. Your comment has me thinking about possible applications… even shrinking works of art like Jackie did to make tiny stained glass windows (with perhaps either wire or black puffy paints (applied with a tiny diameter opening) to make the ‘lead’ divisions)). Thanks for jump-starting my imagination! :)

When I was a kid it was called Shrinky Dink, and we would make ornaments with it. I remember having lots of fun with it, this was in the mid - late 70's by the way.

Shrinky Dink is the brand of shrink plastic (it was the only brand available for many years), but most of us just call them all Shrinky dinks. They usually sold preprinted plastic sheets in themes back then (they still do), and it was tougher to find the blank sheets. Now lots of companies make shrink plastic in blank sheets of different colors, thickness and textures. Black shrink plastic makes some really nice jewelry.

I've done Shrinky Dinks with the kids at work, but also did Valentine's shrink plastic (I still call "off brand" shrink plastic as shrinky dinks) with the kids just yesterday. I use a craft heat gun instead of putting them in the oven and the kids love to watch it shrink.

I work with shrink plastic with the grandkids... Usually, you use markers or colored pencils and bake at 250f, they'll curl then flatten. It only takes a matter of moments and if they don't completely flatten you can lay a smooth metal pan on them while still warm. Oh, and if you layer smaller cutouts on the larger ones they will stick together. Cool for 3D stuff.

@@Amira_Phoenix in my experience, with other brands, it’s generally too thick for scissors but can be sanded. Wet sanding is my preferred way. Or it can be sawn but can crack if not supported properly and might warp a little bit if it gets too hot.

@@Amira_Phoenix Stick with sanding. It shrinks down in length and width but gets thicker and very hard. As hard as the plastic used for door handles and such.

You have no idea how happy I was to see an art video. Fidget toys are fine & interesting but there's something MAGICAL that happens when Jackie makes art or even adds her artistic flair to stuff like candy floss machines where she tests weird flavored stuff & crazy art kits she tries & finds ways to improve them or make them work. I have a very low income so sometimes I gotta go with the less expensive fun kits for my son & it's nice to know how I can either avoid flops, figure out ways to make them work or on the very rare side of cheap craft kits actually find one that is Jackie approved just as it is.

I've been making tons of pins with shrink plastic, it's so versatile and easy to use! To keep a lot of details and even get a 3d effect, you can use the line work on the unsanded shiny side, let dry and then flip to the sanded side to color. Markers, sharpie etc works generally better on the smooth side, as it doesn't bleed and run into the little crevices 😊 if you want to add resin to seal and protect your masterpiece, make sure to use a layer of mod podge or spray adhesive beforehand, as resin doesn't stick particularly well to shrink plastic and will lift off after time. Hope that is helpful to someone 😊✌️😘

My husband bought me Jazza's kit for Christmas and I love it. I had never used alcohol markers before and I adore them. Now just have to find time to use them more :D. I have also wanted to play with shrink plastic, so this is the most amazing vid - thank you so much. Have so many ideas.

Back in the 70’s crisp packets were made from shrink plastic. We used to make all sorts of jewellery from them. Edited to add, usually with modern shrink plastic, if you use alcohol markers, the colours intensify when the plastic is shrinked.

We used to do the same with crisp packets in the 90's too made miniature crisps just for the funs I remember holding them with tongs against my sister's electric lounge fire...so bad but it worked haha

Definitely take note on packaging. When I got my Not Another Crap Kit there was a huge hole in the back of the box because it was just put in a shipping bag 😕. Thankfully nothing inside was damaged but I wish I could have kept the box. Also I agree with the comment about make up. I'd much rather spend the money on craft & art supplies 😊

All Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers have bullet and brush nibs. I’ve had all their collections long before Jazza started working with them and they really are great quality. They make a line of watercolor markers that are also pretty great

I did a moth once on shrink plastic full size and spend sooooo much time colouring it in with gradients and details. And when it was shrunk the colour intensified and the gradients and details were lost. That one was done with coloured pencils in a lot of layers . This video gives me inspiration to find my shrink plastic again and make something

I love shink plastic, but it can really warp! I've found that 'shrinky-dink' brand shrink plastic tends to warp less than other brands I've tried. You can also do this with any plastic container that has a number six in the recycle symbol on it. Lots of fast food containers are made of this. In my experience shrink plastic is great at keeping tiny details no problem. I find color pencil (even w lots of layers) on sanded plastic looks gorgeous - since the colors intensified as it shrinks

I remember I used to have a Shrinky Dink maker thing growing up (It might still be at my parents place honestly) and at first I had issues with it but once I got the hang of it it was pretty fun.

I‘ve been experimenting with shrink plastic for DnD minis and in my experience, the best way to get flat non-warped pieces is to get them out of the oven with the baking sheet underneath and then put another sheet and a couple of heavy books on top. This way the pieces can‘t distort when you get them out of the oven and any residual wobbliness is pressed away by the books when it‘s still warm. I also noticed that the baking paper made the pieces extra smooth so you could probably experiment with structured surfaces to give the pieces some interest. Also, I‘ve found it incredibly helpful to take a bigger piece of shrink plastic (lika an a5 size), draw a 1x1 cm grid on it and then bake it so I have a reference for how big I have to draw before baking to get a certain size figure at the end.

I remember doing shrink art with my older cuzzins in the late 70s early 80s when I was waaaay too young to understand/appreciate it. Have recently found this art form again and am so excited. Haven’t had bad outcomes much…. A couple learning experiences but. So. Much. Fun.

Jackie and Jazza, why must you make such great content and art supplies?! I kinda want Jazza's art supplies now. I've already got the NerdECrafter box, which is sitting in the cupboard until I have the time and nerves to try it out. With an entire tub of craft kits, I have a problem. US$30 seems like a LOT for shipping, but to get that hefty package to Australia it's actually a decent deal.

Hi Jackie, in the UK we call this Shrinkies, the sheets come in many colours as well as clear & frosted. I use to heat mine in the oven but I now use a craft heat gun (it looks like a hair dryer) & a baking tray. When I’ve finished shrinking the plastic I flatten it with a acrylic block.. I quite often stamp images to colour & then shrink. You can use most plastic, instead of the special sheets. The way it works is when plastic is made into shapes, it’s stretched & when we heat it up, it shrinks back to its original size.

I love this idea! I’ve worked with shrink plastic a bit and you can try tracing with the liners on the smooth/shiny side then flipping the plastic and coloring on the texture/frosted side and the image comes out way cleaner after shrinking :)

when i was a kid, we did this every year but we called them Shrinky-dinks lol all you needed was , sharpies, a paper punch to make a hole for the string, and #6 plastic lids that we got from containers you get from the deli, made lots of ornaments for our christmas trees and still have a few , lots of fun

I use it to make myself cute cartoony jewelry, just yesterday I made myself two sets of bat related earrings, a pair of lemon pie and a pair of strawberry milk carton earrings ☺️, my favorite pair I made is a van Gogh starry night earring set I still get so many compliments on them to this day ❤️

Im actually very impressed! I like the shiney sides better. Lol but cool! I am an artist who has spent hours drawing really tiny and caused a lot of pain and strain for a few projects. So this is awesome to know that you found stuff that works
