I went back and rewatched that creepy story that Mia read to Rose in the beginning and I realized all the monsters that were described in the story represent one of the people/bosses that we have encountered throughout the game. For example, in the story there was a bat, a huge fish, a mechanical horse, and I don’t quite remember the other one. The bat represented the vampire lady, the fish represents the gross swamp/fish guy , and and the mechanical horse represents the guy she is dealing with in this episode.
