💚 And as always, a huge thank you goes out to The Brotherhood: / brothersmake
We found a discarded wooden side table next to a skip outside our workshop. Instead of letting it go to waste, we thought we'd try our hand at upcycling it by giving it a bit of a makeover. We refinished the outside of the table and added a brand new top made from 100% recycled plastic. Since we were feeling fancy, we also added wireless phone charging functionality. We are pretty confident that this little table would fit nicely inside a modern home. We literally turned trash into treasure!

You have the USB socket inches from the charging pad. You can just as easily plug the phone in directly once you have the cord going all the way there. Would have made more sense to have the USB go near the bottom of the pedestal and run up the inside to the charging pad. That way you would not have a dangling cord...

@@doreenwatson-read Nah, it's honestly a bad placement(for that one portion of the build). There's no strain relief at all and the cord is at a perfect tripping height and just sticking out, it will probably rip that USB port right off the board first time it's hit, then that circuit is useless and will require someone to unscrew the table to pieces and unglue it for any hope of repair. Inside the cutout and facing the USB port down, would mean it could easily unplug itself when yanked hard on, coulda been much more reliable and less an eyesore.

I use the containers for mushrooms as my snake hides, just cut an arch out with scissors, then use a fine nail file to soften the edges. The shorter sized containers, for water bowls. The large plastic quality street container for a moss box, I melt around hole where the Q is, with a souldering iron, no need for filing. Souldering irons are good for melting plastics, instead of trying to cut and end up spliting the plastics. Used the souldering-iron to melt air holes in heavy-duty storage box, yes for my snakes travel boxes.😁 My snake are spoilt. My husband also uses mushroom containers, and the clear same shaped salad containers (as a lid) for provacators for his plants.😁👍

Good job, brothers! If you are inclined to make a video about your encounter with the Malaysian mayor, then I recommend keeping it simple. Just talk into a camera with no editing, and let us know what his beliefs were before meeting, and what it took to get that meeting, and what long term outcomes you expect.

Have you thought about potentially making a plastic urn??? I know that we already have plastic urns in crematoria - but they're always that God awful brown colour. If we can come up with a good way to make urns from old plastic, maybe we can have a more attractive way to display our dead as well as a way to create new decorations for out homes as well. I love the idea of having more urns around me that I can use to keep things like coins in. I'm just not sure how to get the basic shape right without resorting to expensive equipment, which I don't have.

the company you got the plastic from would not have "wasted" it, 1000%. it is sorted plastic and not used so they would/could sold it for a price to a recycling company that would make plastic pellets out of it and resell it to them or other companies. clean and sorted plastics almost always gets recyled. The used and unsorted plastic waste is the real problem and almost nobody can recycle it usefully. Thanks for listening to my TED talk.
