I'm retired and I was given painting supplies by my son. I have always been a doodler, but I had never painted. When I began trying the paints, I was asked if I could paint the local lighthouse, that's it !have for my picture. When I went to look at the lighthouse from the beach, I was walking through all these rocks and I began noticing fossils and really interesting types and shapes of the rocks. It got me interested in rock hounding and then I discovered rock tumbling. I soon discovered a youtube channel about all of those things including cutting cabachons out of stones along the other side of lake Huron, from where I live. I began looking for more videos of city and polishing rocks and then I discovered the many Opal cutting channels and quickly got hooked on them, including this one. That's how I became an Opal Addict in the beginning and I'm only getting worse.

She can now tell the difference between Ethiopian, and various Australian opals, Queensland boulder, Coober Pedy, Andamooka, and Lightening Ridge crystal, dark and black. I really appreciate you guys putting these videos out. I have had good intentions of making opal carving and silver smithing videos but have not pulled the trigger yet. I like watching your channel. You give a good explanation of how and why. I watch opel cutting videos because I want to learn to cut opal. When I was a young kid I would get out the small box of opals my dad brought back from Australia where he was stationed during WWll. I’ve been in love with them ever since. Now I’m retired and couldn’t think of a better hobby to enjoy.

Some great color in that lighting ridge opal! I like watching opal cutting videos, because I'm an opal cutting hobbyist myself. Few things are better than cutting a beautiful opal gem. ... although, reasonably priced rough has been hard to come by online recently. Lots of new people coming to the party everyday. Takes newbies a while to learn to not over pay for rough.

I've Loved Opals since I was a child. I just came across one of your shorts & found your channel. My grandmother gave me a rare, one of a kind opal ring surrounded by 2 ⅓ ct diamonds in a gorgeous art deco setting (made in 1921) ... And my ex husband stole it from me & gave it to his mistress who wore it during our divorce court. I didn't have proof of ownership so she got to keep this only keepsake I had from my beloved grandmother😢, who also loved opals. I am looking forward to your new content & also can't wait to watch your older videos.
