Im pretty damn sure the challenge still counts as long as you perfect the graham fight. Have you ever heard of an "useless machine"? They are contraptions that tend to have a singular switch where once the switch is flipped the mechanism unflips it, therefore making it so nothing was gained and nothing was lost and making it truly useless since nothing would be diffrent if it never exsisted. In our succubus case the matter is that the succubus soul is used to gain hp when you hit enemies, but if you never lose hp and never get to use that power nothing will be gained and nothing will be lost and therefore it'll be truly useless and it will effect nothing like the flame demon and giant bat souls you avoided using.

This was a very enjoyable challenge to watch! Shyguymask, would you have any interest in trying a similar challenge in other Castlevania games?

I tried a different challenge run where I'm completely naked with the exception of the Chaos Ring and Souls. It was pretty fun.

This is fucking insane. You deserve a diamond trophy for going through with this. I've beaten a few cave games without continuing, and Shinobi PS2 on super difficulty, yet this is just beyond my imagination (and, of course, ability). Hats off to you.

That's a pretty cool achievement :D It's things like this that add replayability to these games. I've beaten all of the GBA Castlevanias numerous times and it's so much fun each and every time, so I might just as well try the naked run in one of them, someday... Reminds me of this low quality walkthrough I've seen a few months ago in which some gal tried to do something similar. I think she used some souls, but went in without the equippables or any grinding. The Headhunter battle alone lasted about 20 minutes :P

I like this video a lot. It's honest about its goals and goes the distance in trying to achieve them. I wonder, though… I guess there's a -~0.016%- ~1.67% chance of opening the menu _right as_ as Soma's fist bops Graham during his second phase, which is sadly beyond human control. It's kind of like getting to the Dance Hall with a Backdash-to-Double Jump instead of using the Flying Armor. That's a shame. ):

I recently cleared bloodstained: ritual of the night, after making a lot of subquests and grinding a lot, i unequipped every possible weapon/buff/shard... you can't make any damage like that! not sure if that is because of nightmare mode(lock at level 1) or if nightmare uses a different exp/damage curve, but yeah, game balance is a very hard topic

First off: top 2 favorite Castlevania games, thanks for covering. Also, would it not be possible to claim that flawlessing Graham and thusly not using Succubus at all would count as not failing the challenge?

This was incredible.

You only need to equip the three souls _just before_ you deal the final blow to Graham's 2nd phase (the spinning meteorbs while he veges out in the middle). You can keep track of his HP and equip the souls just beforehand and deal the finishing hit with a jump kick or something. Unless jump kicking _also_ violates your challenge. Afterwards you unequip every soul that was needed for the trigger and go on as your video showed.

never played this game, but that final boss with the red eyes on the walls has a cool theme, and the game just looks cool

I was planning to do One of this on the emultaur, thanks For the tips in the video, It Will be painful but fun.

After watching this video, me and my brother decided to race with these handicaps. It sucked at first, but eventually it got to a point where it didn't matter all that much? I guess we just got so desensitized to how little damage we did. Chaos really showed what true pain was, but it was fine otherwise. We tried it with the other 2 GBA games, and Harmony of Dissonance isn't all that punishing in terms of how much damage you put out, but rather how much damage you take. It can be unreasonable at times. Circle of The Moon wasn't THAT bad either. Yes, many enemies hit very hard near the end, but learning their pattern makes things easier. Dracula was the only real trouble. We're currently racing on Magician Mode naked however, and it's definitely proven how much it can suck. 3/4 ATK + Half defense + Half Health + plus 5 DEF/5 HP/7 ATK per Level Up instead of the usual? Yeah....really bad so far, but I managed to beat the Zombie Dragons, so I don't have much left I guess?
