And considering it's very strange mechanics, making a challenge run centered around it was a no-brainer.

If I do a Randomizer Run in either Dark Souls 1 or 3 and I see a starting class with the Dark Hand it's an instant pick.

In DS 3 I did a faith + int build and the Dark Hand carried me all the way to Pontiff (especially because almost all Irithyl enemies are weak to dark damage)

I think for people who don't know, it would've been nice to have it explained that the reason you can't Dark Hand grab Andre is because he has a unique model that makes him not count as a typical human NPC in the game. All the blacksmiths have unique models except the mage guy, but he's behind bars so you can't smooch him.

@@etonasama I like it for many reasons, but one of my favorites is it can't be cannon to ds2 or 3. I personally don't like to continuation of this game's story, I feel it should be stand-alone.

@@etonasama I dunno, your character doesnt extinguish the flame so all you really do is clear a pathway to the first flame and go "I'm not linking this LOL" and walk away. It's the apathy ending, you might as well have stayed in your cell in that case. Someone else is just going to walk up and link it after you, so what have you really achieved. You just made the mistake of believing Kaathe like so many before you and so many after, at worst that snake's lying and at best that snake's just guessing because nobody actually knows for a fact what would happen if the fire went out.

That was a parry timed so that it blocked the damage, not a normal parry. Boar didn’t react to the party because it doesn’t have any riposte animations, just the backstab

To further clarify the stats gained from humanity, the defense bonus from each point of humanity is the exact same as the defense bonus for each level you gain, and something he didnt mention(or i missed) is thwt humanity also increases curse resistance, up to 30 points of humanity

You likely already know this, but the "lingering dragoncrest" ring will allow "power within" to last two minutes, and it spreads the health loss out, so you end up losing the same amount. Might be useful in these low damage challenges.

Fun fact on liquid humanity defenses, IIRC 99 humanity it’s equivalent to about the elite knight chestplate at +10 in terms of physical resistance. It’s no slouch, absolutely worth farming humanity sprites in the DLC for

Run ideas: Only Crystal weapons (see how many of each you need to beat the game) and only the chaos blade. I don't remember seeing you do either yet. They should still be viable damage wise, but their downsides will need some clever thinking and planning.

I think chaos blade self damage would be ok challenge wise but for crystal weapons it might be too easy. Been a while since I played but isnt there a very early source of unlimited repair powder?

crystal weapons are pretty easy if you plan your upgrades accordingly, since they reset durability. A more interesting one would probably be beating the game + as many bosses as possible with only a single crystal weapon

There is absolutely nothing worse than having a dedicated run and getting a rare drop from an enemy. I'd have pivoted this char into a demon greataxe build at a heartbeat, to make a new character for the dark hand thing. I cannot count the number of times I've been doing something and a BKS has caused me to pivot all my plans.

Oh, man, I am SO with you on that one, mate! In the last year or so alone, I've had at least three STR builds that turned into Quality builds because I got a Balder Side Sword from the first trip through the church, lol. It's one of my favourite weapons to use and the drop rate is pretty low, so it's almost impossible for me to resist using it when I find one. 😋

I believe you can Kill the 4 kings before getting the lord vessel, You need to kill Sif for the Abyss-Ring, and Murder the gent in New Londo to get the key to de-flood the city. Then comes pain in the form of Darkwraiths in the early game, and a Later-game boss early

15:09 40 isn't the soft cap on Vitality/Vigor in any of the Dark Souls games: in DS1 the soft cap is 50 with 1500 HP (1800 with the FaP ring). In DS3 it's 1300 at 50, and DS2 has the initial falloff at 20 (30HP per level) and the second at 50 (20HP per level, afterwards 5). Elden Ring does have a sharper falloff after 40 and a bigger one at 60, but the HP increase in that game is weird since you actually get MORE HP per level until 40.

I really like the idea of the Darkwraiths from a literary pov. Silent, skull-masked death knights whose baleful touch not only drains the life out of you, but withers you into a hollow, lifeless zombie, if they don't simply kill you first. @@hejenssvsg8468Just recently finished an Arcane run, and A Call Beyond was what I'd been waiting for the entire time; unfortunately though it's very much a tool you'll be getting the most mileage out of in NG+ unless you save the DLC for last or really enjoy running chalice dungeons. And not gonna lie, spamming celestial nukes from across the room in a game like Bloodborne kinda felt cheap after all was said and done.

Hey, have some idea for next challenge run. Name: "Once use it, you will lose it." In short, change durability of every weapon in game to 1. 1 swing, weapon broke, change weapons in mid fight constantly etc.

I always go grab one of these at the start of the game by farming dark wraiths... This video makes me miss the humanity system so much, I hope it comes back.
