It’s funny to me that I’ve played a good chunk of the smt/persona games and understand how they work and never really have an issue with them difficulty wise but whenever I watch your vids and listen to you talk about them and your strategy around every boss battle I feel like I know nothing about the game

Funnily enough I’m playing right now Digital Devil Saga 2 and I was watching some videos to pass the time when I was grinding, and then I was notified of your unload and I was like “Finally, Nyarly made a video on DDS1! What a fun coincidence. This will be fun to listen while I’m grinding serph.” But that aside, pretty cool video, hoping that someday you do the other challenge for DDS2, specially since if you’re doing the Serph solo challenge would be impossible due to… the plot. So I guess you’re going to figured out a way to either make the challenge work or make a new one for DDS2.

Actually regarding the Orochi boss and the 8 press turns, there is the Ishtar boss in SMT V which also has 8 press turns if you don't destroy any of her pillar things, however the fact that orochi has this naturally and is meant to be that way makes it more terrifying

I like your challenge runs. A lot of KZfaqrs who do challenge runs focus more on “is it possible” rather than “this is what I did.” Your guides focus much less on the possibility and strategies and more about your experience running through it. I like that, since it’s a new perspective and adds a charm that isn’t possible with other formats of this type of content. Of course, there’s no disrespect for those KZfaqrs since they find ways to make it interesting with their editing or scripts or anything else, but this is a channel I can see and think “I feel like this is one of my friends telling me about a game they recently played.” Props.

I loved this little series so much ❤❤ the second one is quite a grind but worth it. Also it has the snappiest combat with no need for "turbo mode" or any crap like that. Its just fast, i wish more games would make the speed correct instead of having us speed it up

This series desperately needs a remaster. Because aside from buying the games from PS2 there is no other way to play these aside from maybe if you Want To play them on the PS3 but I've heard some horror Stories about those versions especially for the second one. I just think it'd be pretty cool to see the duology be brought to a newer generation, but man Heat screaming bring it on in the final boss fight was amazing. Great job with this challenge and hopefully you can do the same thing for DDS 2!

A nice detail is how the bosses don't have long drawn out death scenes, they are quick and spastic. Like a person.

The Orochi fight is one of my favorite boss fights in SMT. A boss with overwhelming power in theory that can be neutered with proper skill sets. A good way to show case just how adaptable and strong the party members are within the context of the game.

Imagine an RPG that takes place in what is basically NG+, where everyone remembers what happened at the end of the story, how badly it turned out, and keeps pushing the player character, who can't remember anything, to go on a different path, even the main villain pushing him to just go a different way. It'd be interesting to me, especially if you give it multiple endings

I would LOVE for these games to get q remake on modern hardware or at least a port or something. Also, I love how every boss fight is either: "I was a little over levelled so I one shot the boss" or "this fight took me hundreds of attempts over the course of 3 hours" with no in-between

Damn, I really need to get back to this one. I emulated it at one point, but dropped it once the Mantra system was introduced. No real reason, I just had other stuff I wanted to play.

1:00:31 so basically the omnipotent orb from persona as a skill. I don't know if that's more or less broken than the omnipotent orb. But its definitely more broken than the invincible Metatron build to make that you need to sacrifice many skills to make it,it doesn't block alignments and in persona 5 you have to put him in lockdown to null/repel/drain gun because there are no null/drain/repel gun skills and again it doesn't block alignments.

I admit i was curious if you were going to just do the main story bosses or the optional ones two and aside from not fighting HIM unless that's on a separate video later on i admit i am both surprised and not surprised i'm curious as to whether you'll be doing the sequel and if so using the completed save data for the bonus rings and other things like Hard Mode etc...

what makes this a little funny is becouse he voiced one of the characters in a no demons run of digital devil saga 2 i think it was a minor character

I think another challenge to consider is no new mantra, so the mantra and skills a character comes in with is what they have for the whole game. I think it would be somewhat similar to the Persona 2 Innocent Sin default persona run.

Regarding Orochi having 8 press turns, Ishtar does too in SMT V

I find it hilarious that in order to get SMT’s version of the Omnipotent Orb, you have to grind for it rather than defeat a Super Boss.

Now I really want a Remaster of both DDS to play immediately.

in reference to the press turns that mr.orichi (the snake boss) has, the 8 icons, i believe the only other boss (that i can recall having that many anyways) is Ishtar from SMT 5, but only if you decide to not destroy a single one of the devices giving her power. Which, is possible. But very difficult.

When you explained what the cursed status effect did I was like of course Atlus would put a status effect that says that any damage I do to the enemy gets done to me when enemies have way more health than I do like if you do a hundred damage you nearly killed yourself meanwhile you got to do it like 10 more times before the enemy falls lol😅

For the Jinana fight, consider reverting to Human form. Naturally nulling Hama makes that fight much easier, if slower.

Rahu is supposed to have a gimmick where his head traps a party member and damages them until they're dead. He then gets buffed stats and abilities for the rest of the fight...unless you are solo. If you only have one party member, he never goes for his gimmick so you can cheese him with little effort. Deus proved this in his own solo Serph run.
