Same here. He is one of my three "legendary" Fromsoft bosses, which is how I describe a boss battle that is just above and beyond good. The other two are Slave Knight Gael, for being literally the perfect final boss for the Souls trilogy; it literally could not have ended in a better way, and Ornstein and Smough, who I regard as the best gank boss ever created (and before you say Friede and Abyss Watchers, Friede's 1st and 3rd phases are amazing, but her second phase is very hit or miss, and the Abyss Watchers don't have enough health). Also, considering the main reward for beating O&S, the hardest base game boss, is literally the best reward in any Souls game (fast travel), I'd say they are almost more rewarding to beat for the first time than Gael, though I think Isshin is a close contender due to the combat mastery required to overcome him

All these people picking memes or final bosses or things like that, I'm gonna give you the facts. Maliketh is my favorite boss for two reasons: his lore, and his awesome transformation twist. Maliketh's lore is super interesting, just as all the lore this game has is, but the most important thing is that you do not expect some raggedy cloth wearing dog man to bust out a huge sword of black stone and pure death energy and start backflipping around the room and using absolute Vergil style motivation on you with his anime type moveset. He's also an important continuance of the literal paradigm of the "weak and meek hero would nobody notices." in the vein of the Hobbits from LOTR and Cloud Strife from FFVII; heroes who succeed precisely because the villains' attention is elsewhere. Far too much of Hollywood culture preaches the idea of the "lone warrior" mentality that can achieve everything and defeat all enemies on their own, and as it's definitely bled over into mainstream culture, it's hardly just harmless movie fantasy any more.

I'll be honest. I was too annoyed by the shitty lock on glitches from phase 1 to enjoy phase 2. Having gone through the game using it and having to learn how to play without it made it feel blind for the storm king phase. It wasn't even hard to defeat the storm king, just fucking annoying.

My favorite boss would have to be Dr. Phil. He was so early in the Fromsoft series that he might have been the first boss with a second phase iirc, so getting teleported to The Ranch at half health caught me completely off guard. Mix that with the amazing voice lines and flawless character design (gotta love the bald head and gorgeous mustache) and you have yourself the perfect boss.

My favorite boss is definitely Margit/Morgott. There’s something hilarious about how he monologues in Shakespearean, insulting you and leaving you completely confused about what he’s talking about while being captivating all the same. The Morgott fight was also the first main story boss I was able to defeat without summoning any friends (I’m not very good at souls like games). His move set and combos are fun to learn and just look at during the fights and his cursed sword is my favorite weapon in the game.

My favorite boss is still Ludwig, though Gael is a close second. I love the "narrative" of the fight as Ludwig slowly regains his senses and glory with a fantastic mid-fight cutscene and wild phase transition, can't help but get goosebumps as the 2nd phase music roars in. The gameplay is stellar, the wild but surmountable aggression of phase 1 combined with the elegant power of phase 2 makes for a very dynamic and memorable challenge. He was a massive wall in my first playthrough, so much so that I've nearly memorized his fight and could pull it off on reflex with only a few scratches. No clue if I can still pull that off now though since its been a while since I've danced with the demon horse, been too busy learning how to count with Mogh

The Bloodborne DLC was a masterpiece, aside from Logarius, but we don’t talk abt him. But seriously, aside from that one small blemish, the Bloodborne DLC is literally perfect, and just as good as the rest of the game, which is probably the best out of the FromSoft games.

I believe that presentation of the boss as well as the feeling I get when fighting them and the pacing of the fight is really important. Which is why I love Isshin the Sword Saint. You come back to the place where you began which gives you a feeling of completion as everything comes full circle not to mention easily beating a more powerful genichiro before even fighting the sword saint showing how far your skills have progressed with each boss/mini boss you fought. He feels easy which is a high I can’t quite get over, but then Isshin pops out and the music comes back in and you’re faced with a skilled opponent with many options as well as the versatility needed to take down an Endgame Sekiro. It feels important, impactful, and rewarding when you defeat Isshin as he sheathes his sword and you take him out after he admits defeat. He wasn’t that difficult with all the hours I had put in but it felt great beating him nonetheless. Long Story Short: Rewarding, Memorable, and Very Anime.
