Sooo did you forget Seymour is weak to poison in most his forms? I am pretty sure Bio is a Black Magic spell. And a surprisingly...large amount of creatures are weak to poison in this game Like Seymour flux for example gets butchered by it.

There’s a chest in the area leading up to Seymour Omnis that contains an armor piece for Yuna that absorbs 3 elements. In my first playthrough I had enough materials to make her immune to the fourth, making her nearly invincible. I also had Shiva with Firaga, very useful when he decided to only use Ice magic.

42:45 You said it was impossible for you to kill Yu Yevon at this stage. But it actually was possible. Every time Yu Yevon uses Gravija, he damages himself for 9,999 damage which he doesn't heal. All you had to do was just defend over and over again until he was in range for Tidus to finish him off.

The celestials would give you Break Damage Limit which probably would have helped. They also just have some very nice stuff like Initiative, MP Cost 1, Boost.

Genuinely love watching these videos. One of my favourite things in JRPGs is the way their systems can be manipulated. Whether it's completely snapping the balance over your knee like a twig, or limiting how you can play, there's nothing quite like it. I just wish I had the patience to do it myself, but then that's why I love your channel so much. Keep it up Primal!

Getting it requires summoning and monster capturing. Summons are explicitly banned, and nothing can be captured due to the magic-only rule.

Love the run! But for anyone else, Ochu's normal drop is the mp spheres, the hp is the rare. So for a run like this it's well worth beating him!

Great work on a challenge that was mostly the opening grind. Though you banned customization, you technically could have looked at gear you could buy from shops or even gotten as drops from certain area mobs as a way to cover your bases mostly for extra hp/mp if you didn't want to go for gear with increased magic damage output or things like auto buffs or even the elemental eater which would have completely erased Seymour's final battle

First thing that came to mind was how the macalania albeh machina with the anti magic field would be impossible but after listening to the rules kimahri overdrive will need to one shot it and it should be doable. Cant wait to watch the video.

My first time finishing it I was 17. I was replaying ffx with a friend who had never beaten the Evrae fight. When we did the race we took turns and after about 2 hours (and both of us getting exactly 0.0 a few times) I finally got the perfect run. My buddy was so mad he didn't get to be the one who beat it. Good memories

Enjoyed the video! I found it interesting though that the rules prohibited Lancet (a magical attack) but allowed Jump and Seed Cannon (physical attacks). Magic can't crit (unless it's Nova) so it would have altered the Negator strat a fair bit if only magical attacks were allowed!

I think I would have made an exception with Kimahri to allow him to use lancet _only_ to gain more Blue Magic, and not use for free MP regeneration. But the idea is really cool. I'd like to see others like it, maybe XII?

I agree with this comment. You say kimahris limit is blue magic but then proceed to not lancet to help learn more blue magic then? You might as well not have used it at all.

@@lordofbears9463 Kimahri was needed for the early tank boss in Makalania, I assume there is no way to do that boss without classifying Kimahri's overdrive as Blue Magic even though it technically isn't (though it is based off of blue magic from the past). I do agree it's probably more interesting to allow lancet strictly for learning purposes, random trash fights aren't interesting or shown anyway.

Dude, I love your challenges because you play the best entries in the series, and I love "You're Not Alone," but I have to tap out because I can't listen to it for 40+ minutes straight. 😅 Have you thought about switching up the BGMs? And yeah, chocobo catcher is doable but it's still unfun BS.

there was a guide id always follow for FFX runs that said all ultimas were shell peircing. i know thats not true cause i tested it personally. maybe they were only talking about seymours

Fun run; mad respect to the time you put in. I would have melee grinded tidus to go above 12 mp for sure; you have sick commitment. I do think it's funny how you ban haste then immediately decide to use haste instead of grind Kimahari. Edit: Just wanted to specify, this isn't a knock on the run or rules. I just think the juxtaposition is funny.

I did thus challenge myself and took it to the extreme and beat all of the dark Aeon besides Anima, who is immune to magic. Dark Bahamut ended up taking me 2 and a half hours... lol. It was brutal. Shiva was also extremely difficult. I'm excited for this one, and for someone else doing the challenge, I did myself!

I'd LOVE to see the next challenge runs: 1. Beat the game only with 2 fighters present on fights. This means every character might be usable but only 2 at the same time (same effect as if one fighter would escape right at the beginning of each fight). IDK if it's moddable. Also see if you could beat dark aeons, creations, and further opponents. 2. Same as before, but only 1 fighter simultaneously. 3. Beat the game with the monsters and enemies on the actual game until the progress you're on (IDK if it's possible). For example, the first usable characters in ground would be dingo, condor and water flan.

On spherimorph use the lower tier spells after it uses elemental shift so you’re not healing it for 4000 😂 great video though!!!

Absolutely bonkers. In theory this run's core concept gets a lot easier when you reach Mi'ihen, but some of the bosses were certainly more puzzling than normal. I rarely use magic unless it's through Yuna who always ends up with a higher magic stat than Lulu in my runs. It was pretty ballsy to (soft) ban Hastega right before the Flux fight, but you managed so kudos there. Those crashes would've sent my fist through a wall too. Time for an upgrade/driver update maybe? I never had issues with my Steam version thankfully and it ended up being the first platform I'd beat Penance legitimately on.

When start listing off Rules and possible Challenges. Was like Hi Jumbo Flan being one optional boss that like here by pass all of them with enough levelings. Leaving in my head Negator and Mp. When mention Blue magic from Kihmari i was like made me question if bypass negator anti-magic field. This was amusing to see.

You were wise to dis-allow Lancet. I did a "Kimahri only" run on my PS2 ages ago and Lancet is hilariously broken on characters building their Magic stat, you literally can't die with it outside of instant death mechanics and dealing with undead enemies.

You can get around reflect by casting reflect on yourself

About a minute in when commenting but i imeditly think of machina panzer at macilania killing the run as it shuts down all forms of magic and summoning but heres to hoping you found a loop hole

iam doing this exact same challenge on my twitch it explodes my mind u had ga spells at spherimorph i just had ra spells for lulu then i think i just defeated evrea and am in bevelle temple evrea was hard since im a bit under lvlved
