It was the humans with the Agarthans' help who created the heroes relics and creststones out of the Nabateans! Rhea was one of the only survivors and decided to change history. The game devs stated in an interview it's because too many people agreed with Nemesis for her to make him a villain in history, but I've also seen people theorize it's because she didn't want her kin's remains to be misused, hence why they're sacred. So so sorry for the lore dump, I don't mean to be rude at all.

90% sure the crest stones are the hearts of the _Nabateans_ that were killed and whose bones were used to make the relics, not the "Heroes" (who were humans). That's why Byleth can use the sword of the creator despite it not having a crest stone- the "crest stone" is Sothis' heart, which is inside their body. That's also why the crest stones are in the masoleum under Garreg Mach- I doubt Rhea would want the people who murdered Sothis anywhere near her remains. It is extremely messed up when you realize that 3 Houses is a story about the sole survivors of a genocide watching the descendents of the people who wiped their entire race off the face of the earth start another war over- and using- the blood magic and desecrated remains of their family members. Like, seriously- imagine calling a truce with the people who murdered your entire bloodline only for their granddaughter to roll up to your house and throw a bomb made out of your mom's urn through your window (I know Edelgard is more removed than a granddaughter, but the sentiment is the same).

@@Silburific This is correct, the Crest Stones and Hero Relics were created using the bones and hearts of the Nabateans. The Crests themselves if i remember correctly were gained by Nemesis and his gang consuming the blood of the nabateans. As a little side fun fact, Amyr wasn't one of the original Hero Relics and very heavily implied to be an artificial Crest weapon designed specifically for Edelgard by the Agarthans. It's repaired using Agarthium instead of the usual Umbral Steel of the other relics.

It was the humans and nemesis being a dick, I played golden wind last and when rhea told me that I was legit shocked, you can even notice that some of the relics move and seem "alive" very disturbing.

Yes, because it's probably only doable on crimson flower. Spoiler alert for other routes: Azure Moon has Hegemon Husk Edelgard, who attacks byleth once period and then ceases, and I don't think she can be counterattacked. Crimson Flower has dragon form Rhea, who you're going to have a tough time against due to the fact that half the time she's not going to take damage. Silver Snow has dragon form Rhea but she always uses the normally 2 turn attack every turn, meaning no counters allowed.
