I think I spent a bit over an hour just practicing that fight in particular before getting a successful attempt. My reaction times kinda suck, so I was more or less writing rules for myself to follow so I wouldn't mess things up. Weirdly, one of the most important in my mental list was "always dodge right." Almost every time I forgot that rule, I got stabbed by her charge thrust attack. It did get me hit by the first of her swipes pretty often, but they do a lot less damage, and I couldn't differentiate them quickly enough to pick the correct one a lot of the time. I didn't track most of them in terms of duration, and I think Sigrún was the longest, but Ròta was still genuinely my least favorite/the hardest for me to get through with my sanity in tact. One of my three consecutive dodges was off just a tad? Guess I'll die then.

I beat sigrun and it was pain lol

Heck yeah! I can't speak for the series as a whole, but I really think that this particular game can be thoroughly enjoyed with or without its backing. More people deserve to be able to experience it first hand, because this game is absolutely wonderful.

I love how well the game subtly and sometimes not so subtly guides you through. I think that's an accurate account. Lines up really well with things like the hive, n whatnot. Or how the beginning of the game has a really slow and methodical atmosphere, so you can't sprint until later.

I know I gushed about it a lot within the video (and my personal life), but this game is so good! I've wanted to play it since around the time it first came out, and it was so worth the wait.

I think it's one of the few instances though that I would prefer something like an invisible wall to removing the ability all together. It was likely a question of what would harm immersion the most, and I'm definitely biased. I would imagine that it wouldn't make a functional difference to most players.

Thank you for the encouragement, and also thank you for a relaxed view of the rules. It was a bit disheartening at the time to get that kind of roadblock given that the rest of the game is shockingly viable. Unless some huge skips are discovered, I think I got about as close as one can get to a pure throwing run. I did discover an instance where there's a work around for Atreus having to shoot something since doing the run. So it can be ever so slightly better.

I'm glad my suffering was worth it. Because no joke, the revenants are the absolute worst. I think that even with the Hunter Killer rage generation method that I had to use, the entire game was genuinely fun even within the rules. Except for the revenants. Really though, thank you! It's fantastic to hear!

That... actually makes a lot of sense. I hadn't considered that. I love the attention to detail by the devs, because that sort of thing is really important for them to consider. I just wish the solution to the problem still allowed the player to _rock_ out.

Oh, I would love to run Ragnarok. More than anything, it's just an issue of console exclusivity. If/when it comes to PC, I would love any excuse to play it.

Thank you! I really appreciate that! As for what gave me the idea though, I tend to look at different aspects of a game and what one could conceivably do without. In this instance, most of the combat isn't technically needed to get by, but I still wasn't sure until I tried it myself. The title really is a question both for the viewer and myself from before I tried it. I don't think I'm good enough at most games to try things like no hit runs, and they've usually been done several times over by much more talented folks. I tend to try to find things that specifically haven't already been done, because the question isn't half as fun if it was already answered so directly. I may not have a big channel, but it also feels like poor form to just take someone else's idea. Unless something can be meaningfully improved on, I'd prefer to present something new. I do often look to things like speedrunning communities for different bugs and techniques, but they're usually meant to cut time out, rather than add six or better hours to a run.

As bad as they were, there was a way to kill them. So it was the route I had to take. The worst one was around forty five minutes for a non mandatory fight. It was... really fun finding that out after the fact.

It's something I look forward to at least trying if/when it's ported over to PC. I have no idea if it'll actually be possible, but that is part of the fun. I usually take some time to research things beforehand, but I'm also trying to mostly stay away from Ragnarok content until I can play it myself. If it's even half as good as this one, then it's something special.

That sounds both hellish and like a good time, overall. I'd be shocked if it was any much as painful as the run I'm working on now. I'll have to see what hasn't been done yet if/when Ragnarok is ported to a platform I can play on. It only took what, four years to port the last one? Just gotta wait half a decade and somehow maintain my sanity for the duration.

Ah, yes. I know of them, because I am one of them. Along with Demon Souls. I know _why_ they take so long, but why?! Exclusivity, incompatible software, tons of red tape, but I want the games so badly!

Since doing the original run/making the video, I actually managed to find a way to shave off an instance of having Atreus shoot something as well! If of course you're cool watching him slowly beat something to death instead. And I do mean slowly.

​@@SpuddyCube Well, unless you can somehow manage to flee from all the Revenants, I don't know for sure if it will be. It would have to be either that, or an unfound glitch in the game that no one else has ever noticed before that could just skip some of the fights entirely, breaking the game like a twig. But hey, anything 's possible.

I would absolutely love to! I will have to wait until it's (hopefully) ported to PC, so I have something to play it on. If/when it is though, it's most likely going to become my top priority.

You can once Spartan Rage is unlocked, and through most of the game. There is of course at least the one spot that you can't later into it. The running theory is due to having Atreus in view. You'd theoretically be able to kill the enemies attacking him from a range, thus heavily harming the general feel of the scene.

To be entirely fair, there was a frost draugr before Baldur that can be beaten by Atreus passively. I touched on it in the Runic run that I did, but you can lure it out of place where he can kill it similarly to how I handled revenants in this one.

It's always so soul crushing to see. Even on easy though, a victory is a victory. I'd imagine she would still be pretty punishing. If nothing else, she has a lot more in the way of move variety to handle when compared to most enemies, and not a lot of time to react.

I believe it was on balanced. Somewhat fittingly, it was a balancing act in the case of some encounters, especially in places like Muspelheim, where my only real source of damage was boulders vs the time limits. I think the run as a whole would be pretty doable on the maximum difficulty without the sub goal of Sigrun. I think a better player might even be able to manage to do both, but I was unable to find information on enemy health scaling. If it is doable, I still think the margins for error in the timed sections would still be really tight due to slow rage generation.

Oh, I have every intention of throwing my money at the studio the moment they port it to PC. I would absolutely love to play it sooner, but my newest Playstation came out in two thousand four, and I don't have the funds or space for a new console.
