It would be fun to see a Claus only run of Mother 3, as far as I know it's never been attempted. Normally Claus only is in your party for the first battle in the game, so he is programmed in as a party member, but he has no PSI. Not sure how hard it'd be to set up though.

i remember grinding to level 20 for the jealous bass and having an optimal strategy using bombs and just leaving the guitar dead to the jealous bass wouldnt transition to the phase where he gets absurdly difficult, while also making the jam session attack less miserable as one member would only suffer around 10 damage, and the other around 20. then i'd just attack the bass constantly without any real issue and then focus on the drum in the end

Unrelated, but I had a dream last night where I was playing Mother 3 on the NSO virtual console, except it had the art style of Mother 2.

i remember watching someone fight master porky with base level characters (so like lucas at level 10 i think and some other characters at the levels they start instead of at level 1) and they barely made it out alive using all of their magyspie artifacts, a party that consisted of i think lucas, kuma, duster, and flint and i think also even using pk ground a bunch. props for doing this ALL at level 1, not even base level.

Awesome run! I’ve always loved the gameplay of these games as well and this pushed it to the limit. I wonder how the game calculates rng and which moves the enemies use because maybe in the future we can do some rng manipulation to make it slightly faster/ consistent

This reminded me of a challenge video where someone beat Let's Go Pikachu with only a Caterpie, relying on luck and friendship mechanics to just barely beat the Elite Four and Champion without items. If random good luck (enemies missing, not attacking, or using bad attacks) can give you a 4% chance to win, that's much better than the 0% it would be without those luck-based elements. Though it can be frustrating to wait for the RNG to line up 😅 And hey - there's definitely some strategy needed beyond "spam items and pray for good luck." Balancing out healing and attacking as well as determining what equipment to use is very important for a run like this, especially so in the case of the Porkybots, apparently. I'm a little surprised you didn't try to use the Mementos sooner given how broken a free revive is, but that does seem like a true last resort option given the limited quantity. Plus (I assume) item space is limited - you obviously needed to make sure to carry attacking and healing items. I'm wondering what the price tag for this run is, if you tally up the cost of all the items you bought and used in the game. Congrats on beating the challenge!

So the answer is no. Because characters level up when they kill things. Debug room to reset levels lets you do challenge stuff, but for any normal human being, no. Good job on your item and rng usage.

No, first off you would gain exp from required story bosses ruining level 1, 2 it's not like kingdom hearts where you get bonuses to your stats for defeating a boss. edit : the big one is having low health always
