Skyrim is neat. I enjoy a good Skyrim every now and again. But sometimes your Skyrim needs a little less Skyrim and a little more something else. That makes total sense, don’t worry about it. Can You Beat Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC Without Taking Any Damage?

Can You Beat Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC Without Taking Any Damage? (in text form)
So here’s the funny thing about this challenge. Usually when I start a playthrough for a Fallout or Skyrim video, I can get it beaten in about 2 days. Start it one afternoon, finish it the next. Well, for Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC, I started it quite a while ago… in November. I don’t think I even have that footage anymore. Then I tried again earlier this year and made just as little progress as I did the first time. You know that weird sick smell you get in your nose the day before you catch a cold? That’s in the air for everyone right now, so what better time to go back and embrace the pain.
I began my journey for the 3rd and final time with a character I made for many croissant moons ago. The challenge for that particular character was Practice Arrows only. I don’t remember why exactly I stopped that one. I blame alcohol and the establishment. I chose that Stealth Archer because a Stealth Archer is the only real way to play Elder Scroll 5: Adventures of the Stealth Archer. And because past experiences taught me that I’d need as high of an Archery skill as possible. Also, I used a console command to set my max health to 1 so that any damage of any kind kills me.
My first stop in this quest to induce great suffering in my soul was Dawnstar. Why Dawnstar? There’s a secret chest God accidentally left under the ground when he was making this city, and it’s filled to the brim with all sorts of goodies. Blades for slicing, arrows for piercing, hammers for smashing, Soul Gems for all sorts satanic intrinsic activities. You can’t not have a good time, unless you can’t reach the chest in the first place because a mod removed it. As the anger piled up exclusive me, I entered a Dawnstar house, looking for someone to kill. I split his chest cavity in half, nobody outside cared about his end, including me, so I quit the game, removed the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, started the game again, and could finally access the chest.
Just like that hollowed out rock just outside Megaton in Fallout 3, I would expect me to hit up this chest in every Skyrim playthrough I do from here on out. I didn’t take everything from the chest, I didn’t want to be greedy. Probably the best thing to come out of it was learning of an absurdly easy way to acquire 2 Wooden Swords. It’s a surprise tool that will help us later. With my pockets full of someone else’s stuff, I traveled to Whiterun to sell what I didn’t need and immediately noticed that something was off. Couldn’t quite put my finer on what it was though.

This video was re-uploaded because KZfaq flagged the old version as “not suitable for most advertiser” and took it upon itself to review the video before I submitted it for a review. The video being demonetized hurts the video and effectively cripples it. My videos usually get 500,000+ views in their first week. Fallout 3’s The Pitt DLC video has 670,000 views and was no ad restrictions while the Point Lookout DLC video was demonetized and as such has struggled to reach 250,000 views. Hopefully I’ll never have to do this again.

17:17 I have had mudcrabs clip into the ground on an angle where they can attack but are functionally immortal. Entirely possible that a mudcrab killed that dragon.

there is a quiver with steel arrows just down and a bit right of the mudcrab, inside the grass. I guess there were some troops or at least a hunter out there too. Still, this bug is quite possible, it's Skyrim we are talking about!

@@zerotodona1495 I also like to play Skyrim after watching Skyrim videos, but that lasts only a couple hours ingame, and then my save again starts to collect dust. Never finished the Main-Story or Dragonborn once, I only managed to finish Dawnguard once or twice.

For future reference, if you end up in a situation where you load and die because of the "fade in" thing you were talking about, if you open up the console command line right when that fade starts, the game will fade in, but nothing can move, and as soon as you exit the command line, you will have control over your character, giving you back those few precious seconds

@@Daveaintreal I think the way that arrows work is they add damage to the bow damage when you hit. So practice arrows do no damage but the enemy will still take the bow damage.

Believe me, NOBODY likes Mora, only because of how slow he talks (it’s slower than a blind sloth with a leg disability on both legs) especially people who play Skyrim thousands of times and run through this dlc constantly, personally found it so annoying that i’m pretty sure i just watched youtube while waiting for him to shut up (either that or I furiously tap the skip button to try and skip it...to no avail of course)

I learned that the hard way when I tried to kill the Lurker after accidentally leaving the difficulty on Master mode after leaving the Greybeards' crib after a lengthy acupuncture session with them.

These keep popping up, and while it may only be friends or family, or even other viewers who enjoyed this content, I was to thank MittenSquad for all the amazing memories, laughs, and at times, background noise to block out my parents bedroom activities in the next room. While it breaks my heart every time I watch a video to know we lost a legend, I feel comfortable knowing that we still have these clips of Paul's hard work and passion to enjoy and reminisce on. We love you, Paul. And to all his friends and family, our hearts go out to you. Now, the real game can begin.

2:00 the mod doesn't remove the chest; it's still there, but the mod puts it a bit deeper underground, so you can't reach it without the Toggle Collision command.

There is actually more than one hidden chest. There is the one you depict in this video, there is one in the Blue Palace in Solitude, one outside of Markarth, and one in Whiterun that's a major pain in the ass. I'm pretty sure there is a total of 5 thought i'm drawing a blank on the fifth. As of the time I'm writing this, they are all still accessible in the Switch and PSVR versions of skyrim.

I was able to get around that issue of saving right before you’re killed by hitting the console command key right after the loading screen. Doing this freezes the game and lets the game catch up with your character without something killing you... if that makes sense

Azimere yeah it’s hard to do. You can’t really distance yourself, you just have to dodge because everything can catch up with you. Even heavy armored enemies can catch up with you.

14:35 you can open the console during that time to wait untill its fully loaded, I have used that trick to get out of that exact situation many times.

I completed all unique quests in that DLC without too much issue. It just takes an absurd amount of time in the Apocrypha and the willingness to overlook a good number of plot holes ... including the fact Hermaeus Mora forgets who you are after completing all of it's oft-times tedious quest lines.

If you plan to do a sneaky archer again you might try using the bound bow spell, its very strong in the early game + dont need to worry about arrows or anything, there's a fort on the route from whiterun to high hrothgar that has the spell iirc.

The reason you could not reach the chest is because you have to wait for the kajit to go to dawnstar, wait for 48 hours and the chest will be there. There is also a chest in every major city

I actually know 2 ways around the load-in fade-in stupidity, and they're both basically the same (I've only tried them in Fallout 4 though). You can pause the millisecond the load screen ends, and that will let the fade in and the second of no-control happen, and then you can unpause and play without having the delay. The second way is just to open the console instead of pausing, if for some reason you prefer that.
