Of course, it's snails. I've eaten them. They're a bit chewy, very buttery and garlicky; not a favorite (and neither are truffles, unless used very sparingly).

Barry Nelson played him, but it was a televised play of Casino Royale on the show “Climax!” in 1954. As for in a feature film (and being very technical) Bob Simmons, a stuntman, is seen before Connery, in the now iconic walk across the screen and shoot at the camera in the opening of Dr. No. And the same footage of him was used in the following two films as well.
