the whole “kiryu doesn’t kill” thing is actually a mistranslation, its more accurate to say that kiryu never murders in cold blood, only in self defense

@@themojogamer75 very slight spoilers for 5 like so slight it doesn't matter They actually played with this issue where Kiryu is beating up one of the antagonists and they mention how Kiryu doesn't kill and is merciful, and Kiryu literally is like "who told you that".

@@Fizz-Q true, though I just load the patched iso on my modded PS Vita. Never liked using emulators on PC or phones and the Vita has such nice controls. On a similar note, I'm really looking forward for the translation for the first Kurohyou coming later this year. I know there already is one but this new one is by teamk4l who did Kurohyou 2's patch, so it's definitely gonna be much better.

This challenge would be one thing in Kiwami, but here man you’d have to be a masochist to try that with the Japanese equivalent of first game syndrome Still it was quite entertaining to watch, least you got to fight the easy jingu

That would be impossible since majima can force you to fight him at certain points whether through ambushes or just entering someplace randomly and while you can avoid these by losing on purpose the street fights can’t be avoided You are pretty much guaranteed to get at least one dragon style upgrade because of majima

The ps2 version now has an undub that’s fully translated. That being said I love the dub its hilarious but it’s good to have both options

I (partially) accidentally did this when playing PS2 I did not realize unlocking moves was a thing in this version so I was only using the basic combo for the entire game.

Ah yes, old school Yakuza. Good times. It's weird to think about how much the series has blown up since then 😁 One thing I remembered from the English dub was Eliza Dushku being the voice of Yumi because I was a fan of her stuff at the time. Had no idea about Mark Hamill being Majima which awesome 👍

I love og yakuza 1. My favourite line of the dub is yuya early on where in the original he says "you couldnt be any more yakuza if you tried" but in the dub... Youll have to play it to find out

You definitely won't be disappointed. I started playing Yakuza last year. I've played them all from Yakuza 0 to Yakuza like a dragon. Its definitely worth it. Never played any Yakuza game before that. It's really fun

Happy to see people coming into the Yakuza series. I myself only started in late 2019/early 2020 right on the cusp of the bubble pop that had a lot of people really start to get into it. Yakuza 1, for all it's flaws is a pretty good game still, and the English dub is so bad, it's good. Excellent no upgrade through the game, I have seen people do stuff like this in other Yakuza game modes, such as a no upgrade in Yakuza 3's Battle For Survival, where you fight 9 of the games bosses while in the Kamurocho over world. You start with one weapon, and one healing items, and you only get a healing items after beating another boss. Anyways, nice run through one of Sega's best franchises, definitely giving a sub for the tenacity you had while making this. *_10 Years In The Join Made You Upgradeless_*

wow the dub version of Yakuza 1. Its nice to see someone showcase this one since people tend to ignore it. I thought the voice acting was good for the most part with Mark Hamill being really good. This challenge not only seems tough but would also make the game kind of become dull since your stuck with a very limited and repetitive move set through this whole game.
