What alloy are you working with? Also do you have any videos that show your magdrill lathe or wear is the magdrill lathe? I do a fair bit of round stock polishing using a power head for a pipe threader which works. I use a lathe for shorter lengths. curious about your mag drill lathe. Again simple and effective sharing of your technique. If I would have suggested anything to you in your bending it would have been to use a rose bud and just spot heated trying to keep the heat in the location of the bend just sightly on the one side of the bend i find that heating the entire bend area does just what your fix required. the other nice thing about the rose bud is even though it may be a little more labor and attention intensive I do like that as the piece makes it shape as it contacts the jig your heat is sucked into the jig just enough... Silly guy wearing nylon around the fire and hot metal...

If you annealing the bar, then score few lines in the inside of the bend, would that allow a bend without heat? I gave used the heating technique, but bending the brass while ret hot broke the bar! (i guess it may have not been solid brass)

There are many factors but if you heat it red hot, then let it cool , it is annealed . Then try your bend.

Did you try annealing it, and bending cold since brass work hardens ? I gotta bend some half inch stuff soon and i only get one chance. Any suggestions?

I didn't for this bend as I wouldn't have been able to bend it by hand cold. I would have then had to make a form to do it in my hydraulic press.

@@itsnot_stupid_ifitworks No, its actually a old navy diving helmet they demilled by bending in one side with a shop press, its two solid rings i need to get back to being as close to circular as possible. Ill have to make a jig, to fix it. It needs to move about an inch.

@@TheTarantulaking you need to anneal it for sure in a temperature controlled oven. Repairs like that can be sooo stressful!

How can you harden annealed brass sheet after bending it?

My understanding is you can only harden brass by work hardening/planishing. I've never had a need to. What are you making?

@@lapboard340 are you sure you need to anneal before bending? I bend brass sheet cold . OR if possible I would recommend incorporating stiffening ( ie bead rolling) into its shape

@@lapboard340 I did a Google image search on the banjo part. Looks like it could be bent in a brake cold. All of the images look like it's common to be brass plated metal

@@itsnot_stupid_ifitworks I wanded to build a set of modern rustic " concrete cowbell weights with brass handles. Not sure what length I would need because I'mnot exactly sure what would be the easiest way to bend it. I was thinking maybe use induction and a 20,000 lb press. A u about 5 inches wide by 7 inches down so 20 inches for each cowbell I guess not sure how much I should add for the bent radius.
