A high speed power boat actually skims the surface of the water with just the props in the water, basically flying above the water when up to full speed. A carefull balance is needed to ensure the boat does not flip backwards.

U mean a hydrofoil?
@jamhough22
@jamhough22 2 жыл бұрын
@@mimzy6067 No, a hydrofoil has fins that lift the boat up above the water. Go and look at any high speed racing boats at speed, you'll see that they have minimal contact between the hull and the water, trying to skim or stay above the water, getting as much air under the hull to lift the boat out of the water, whilst keeping just the props either fully or half in water and trying not to do a backflip. The more the hull is out of the water, the less resistance and fater the craft can go.

If the game was somewhat realistic in terms of boat speed, power to weight ratio is something I would recommend taking into consideration (not to mention weight in general). Furthermore, propellors blocked by blocks won't be as efficient (IRL). Lastly, a hydrofoil or catamaran structure probably would have been more successful (due to friction) They might be hard to build though, as pontoons are the only pieces creating buoyancy. When making the submarine, check if the hydrodynamics are related to the aerodynamics (if they're not, then the weight will effectively slow it down without helping anything else). It did seem like the aerodynamics were a little overestimated in terms of necessity, as the craft was quicker backwards, where it was less aerodynamic. Most importantly though, don't forget to add a fin or two for stability and steering. Love your videos! Peace, love and nobs.

Fun fact; the speed of sound in water is roughly 4.5x greater than it is in the air (1500 m/s vs 340 m/s). That coupled with the fact that water doesn't really compress make it basically impossible for us to achieve "supersonic" speeds whilst underwater. Similarly, having a boat going supersonic, even if you account for most of it not actually being in the water, is probably not possible IRL. The difference in drag ratio between the parts above and below water would be too great.
