I think that "who is going to be there" is just a question out of curiosity. I wouldn't take that as being rude, hell I would ask too Lol. It's just nice to know sometimes.

I agree with the “who’s going to be there” because if I’m just coming to support you let’s be honest... you aren’t going to hold my hand the entire party and you’ll want to mingle... if I’m going to be surrounded by people I don’t mess with and you’re off laughing somewhere else and I’m uncomfortable... I’m not coming. I’ll take you out next week for a little girls day or something to celebrate with you.

I agree! And not even fake people, some people literally just have really negative energy and it is reflective when they interact with certain people. One of my best friends is friends with this immature dude who always picks on certain people and makes them uncomfortable but says its “all in fun.” I think its a fair question.

I’m for sure asking “who’s coming?” If I think someone I don’t want to waste my energy around might be there. If you are my close friend or family and you love me you already know that I love you and you don’t care if I ask. But I need to have my mind ready to see people I might not want to see OR just be prepared to look extra fly and extra happy 💁🏻‍♀️🤣

@@theelolicious9302 well, I understood it as rude because someone is only willing to go to their friends party based off the people going not because they actually want to go celebrate their friend's birthday or whatever they're celebrating. Or it seems that's why theyre asking in the first place. They're making it about themselves and their relationships with the guest list when it should be about the friend who is celebrating and throwing the party. That's my opinion though. I understand why someone would ask, and personally I don't think I'd be that offended, as long as I know they're just genuinely being curious.

I also want to point out if there has been drama between two certain people in the past at a party of yours.... then as the host you should try your best to accommodate and adjust knowing this info... so I say invite them both and tell the, both that the other one is coming so there is no surprises and they can purposely avoid each other but still come and co exist !

And also, I get it that some people can have numerous friends but I think there's a saying too that say like beware of the friends that laugh with your «enemies or rivals». If we are really friends, you would know ish happens, therefore you would have considered it before. It's easy to say we friends so do this, no it's a mutual friendship. Asking how many and who is going to be there is a good question. It doesn't have to e a matter of having issues with the person(s), it could be that you don't share the person's view on things/speech or behaviour. It could be that you prefer smaller association. It shows maturity to ask. Better to ask before accepting the invitation.

Personally, I don't think it's rude for someone to ask, "Who's gonna be there?". I mean I ask that myself sometimes, depending on the person and what kind of party it is. But what I find rude is that if I'm throwing a get together and I'm inviting people, and some or a lot of those people don't respond back to you!!

As a friend I think it’s very normal to ask who’s gonna be there. I personally ask that question a lot to pin point what I want to wear, if there’s a lot of people I don’t know I like to go with something more formal but if it’s people I’m comfortable with truth of the matter is I’ll wear something more casual. Asking who’s gonna be there can mean a lot of things, it doesn’t necessarily mean a bad thing or that she’s being rude. Also, I don’t wanna be in a place with people I don’t like. I care about myself too much to surround myself with people I’m comfortable with. Period.

I hang around with the same groups of people and every group is a different vibe but they are all friends as well so I only ask "whos coming" so that I know what kind of party it's gonna be. I'm always making drinks or making something and whatever I bring it depends on the type of crowd that ill be with.

If you ask who's coming before you say if you're going or not, then that is rude. Like the birthday person isn't important enough to go for themselves. But if you know an ex might be there, it is ok to ask who is going, I think. A good friend wouldn't mind

I will always ask who is going to be there. First off, if I don’t like someone I’m not going to hang around them. Second, I have anxiety if I only know one person that is going to be there I am going to feel super uncomfortable. So I would rather know straight out the gate.

I have to disagree with Adrienne, sometimes it’s not always about you. Sometimes you have to protect your peace if you don’t feel comfortable enough to be around a specific person. It’s not about checking yourself because you have the problem. You just want to avoid feeling uncomfortable around a specific person/people.

I don’t wanna bring ice. If I’ve already pitched in I should have to bring anything else. Also they responsible for the ice and ice requests are ALWAYS LAST MINUTE!!!! I always want to know who’s gonna be there!!! If someone’s going and we have problems than we gone end up arguing!!!! If you know I have issues with someone and it’s not small, it’s huge, and you invite them and know it’s too much drama than don’t invite me!!!

But it depends on the events tho, weddings, birthday parties, baptism... I sure am coming regardless of who is invited. If it's another party thrown just for fun, that could be great but I still can choose to not come. Some people handle it very well, I'm one of those who don't bc it looks fake and a waste of energy on my own. If I'm going, I want to enjoy myself with the host and her/his companies not play ridiculous games of ignoring each others, that's childish...
