This is a pretty inefficient way to charge a DC battery. You're charging a battery, converting it to AC to converting it back to DC to charge another battery. Just buy a charge controller and connect it directly to your bike's battery.

Well done. Another advantage of Oupes system is that it allows pass-through charging. Many other battery companies either don't allow it at all or if it can be done the battery is degraded. I know there are many comments below about plugging the panels directly into the battery through a charge controller, but I've read elsewhere that that is a dangerous thing to do. You could fry your ebike battery with incendiary results and your ebike with it. It can be done, but it's a risk. Plus with a separate battery you have power for other uses, not just the bike. Someone below complained about the greater weight of LifePo4 batteries, but they are (as you pointed out) capable of many more cycles. I think the Oupes system you've shown is a good setup.

if you can find a solar charge controller that would output the charge voltage of your ebike battery, all you need is a small solar charge controller (victron energy etc) and the panel. wouldn't have to carry around a big lunker all in one battery bank charger inverter thing.

My favorite controller manufacturer Nucular has the ability to input any voltage and it will use the motor (like when regen braking) to charge the battery. This means you can plug in a solar panel directly to the controller and it will charge without the need to carry around the battery backup and also be more efficient as well, or even a mppt solar charge controller as its built in. This also means you can use any charger at any voltage to charge the bike (say even a 20v 5a usb c cable)

😊 yes you can I use mine to charge on long rides in the summer from Alaska to the lower 48 states and back to Alaska in the fall time always carry extra batteries for traveling so you can change one on the go. I use 100whr solor panels two of them on my nomad bicycle camper.

Should have bought the Revv1. They sell a 3A 180W (30-60v) solar panel charging system that plugs straight into the battery. And you can also run two batteries with a battery balancer. Oh and the solar panels for in the carry cage you can buy.

Not only do I have to carry a heavy solar panel and then carry a heavy battery to that's silly why can't you just plug the solar panel into the bike

Lion Ebike batteries are much lighter than Lifepo. 500 cycle minimum (is 1 cycle/week for 10 years), can usually be extended (at least double) by not fully charging/discharging. You also get a lot more range charging from 20% than you do charging above 80%. A 2a charger has always given my 15ah battery 80% charge in 3 hours or less. These products are good for people who don't have ebike batteries. A high end boost mppt solar controller is much cheaper/lighter and provides direct DC power to your battery. An inverter + mppt solar is still lighter and cheaper and can provide the AC/usb power you need. Ebikes with 2 or 3 removable batteries provides the effective range, charging rested batteries, and mobile power needs. The only time you'd prefer a power station is if it is fast recharge (250-400wh per hour) and you are incapable of sourcing an ebike battery with the same rate. Fast recharge allows you to gain a lot of range from a meal break. A review of these types of product should also include the inefficiency of the AC charging circuit. Your P51 is also a big downgrade in cargo capacity compared to your wicked bike.

If you were away from Home in the middle of nowhere it would be hard to kill all them hours waiting for your battery to charge.

Uhhhhh taking dc solar into a wasteful inverter then into a wasteful ac conversion then into an ac battery charger. Every single component in between the panel and the battery adds to energy waste and inefficiency. This is the silliest video I’ve seen in a while.

The fact is that we have absolutely no idea how much energy we are burning stop burning stuff and the forests might not stay ablaze
