Actually, this isn't a bad idea, making a fishing deck as low as possible to the water. I know people that would just go to the counter order a ticket and disappear for entire week and do nothing but fish. And if you cook it yourself you dont need to spend much money on the food there.

One of the reasons why fishing on the cruise ship is forbidden is that if a fishing line could get caught on anpropeller and damage an Azipod, it will cost the cruise line millions of dollars to repair.

Part of it is due to fishing regulations in the port or municipality where the ship is docked Imagine that cruise line loosing the ability to dock in that destination because you and others like you think regulations don't apply to you. IF YOU WANT TO FISH BOOK A FISHING EXCURSION! There are people who do that for a living - house boat and you can fish all you want

I have recently been getting into fishing and the idea popped into my head for a split second (mostly because I'm going to be going on a cruise pretty soon) and in that split second common sense kicked in saying "you're on a massive moving ship, of course you're not allowed to fish off it!"

I live in a city where the cruise ships Dock in the city, I went to school right next to the harbour, so I would walk past the cruise ships everyday. And it was not rare seeing the crew fishing of the back of the ship while the passengers were walking around in the city

I’ve seen one person fish, but it was for a good cause. We found a floating life jacket in the water so this hero with his fishing rod, threw it into the water, and actually caught the lifejacket, and gave it to the employees.

There’s a reason it’s called a CRUISE SHIP and not a FISHING VESSEL.

Considering that cruise lines are huge polluters and probably run over plenty of fish and other marine life the danger to ocean life that fishing is should be a non-issue. As for hitting passengers on lower balconies, maybe they could make it so you can only fish on the lowest balcony?

I think maritime law requires fishing line and tackle (not sure about bait) be placed in every lifeboat aboard passenger vessels. As other KZfaq videos explained, it was not expected to be a practical source of food while stranded, but was mainly considered something to do… with the possible benefit of catching edible fish. Not sure how this works practically on a modern cruise ship lifeboat that seats up to 450 people quite literally heads tucked right into the legs of the person seated above… So if the cruise ship happens to sink, you survive that, and you’re not piling on top of one another to avoid others puke or other bodily fluids doubtlessly spilling upon you as people panic, then yes you can fish and the line and hooks are even provided to you by the cruise company. Bring bait on your lifeboat.
