I’m not surprised that those MLM scammers made their way into the tech sector. They took advantage of trading during the pandemic. They shifted from their old model into getting people to pay for learning how to trade lol. Same thing here and it’s gross because they lead by saying “you don’t need to pay for college, just pay me instead”😂

Pick up a book and a Udemy or coursera course and get to work. Stop paying thousands for something you can do for a few hundreds.

I'm about 14 months and 6 Certifications deep. Crazy how people think the Sec+ is enough to get a job. I got that one first and barely understood what cybersecurity was.

For some people Sec+ is enough to land a role. If you have the technical experience, right place right time, and network around with people it could land you the role. If your getting into tech and you go get Sec+ expecting to land a cybersecurity role, your setting yourself up for failure/ false expectations.

Real Info in this Vid. Job Requirements are getting more beefed up. For a person like myself Im going thru this right now trying to transition from Networking into Cloud. It’s a bit challenging not having OJT training. Exp now is Virtual labs from your preferred Tech learning platform.

True story. In 2022 I made the switch from self employed barber to getting a remote position for Service Desk. Two years prior to that I wanted to work in cloud and be a Solutions architect. Sure that's a good goal but youre not getting that job without paying your dues. I had to take the jobs i had the skills for. Around the same time im getting hired I have a relative that wants to go from self employed to software developer. I said thats not an entry level position. Maybe apply for IT jobs you can be hired for now. I was called a hater and didnt know what I was talking about . Fast forward to 2024 and iv been promoted to tier 2 and my relative is still chasing a dream lying on linkedin that they're a developer but actually never worked in it😂

I mean software development is different. You don’t typically start in IT because they’re two completely different fields. There are junior/entry level software developer roles, but its definitely gonna take time to build good projects and a portfolio to demonstrate you really have the skill. Two years is fine, but since he’s lying on his LinkedIn I’m guessing he’s not doing what he should be though

Finally folks seem to be waking up. I am glad to hear this. we still have a LONG way to go - of course because our people are always so slow to change direction on important things. Also , why is it that we always want to sell our knowledge back to our people? Usually is because we are just interested in showing what we got or celebrating our success. Them Bootcamps was capping so much I said f it I'm going to college. Than ran across WGU and start in April. I'm pre gaming for my A plus as we speak. I'm not running through it like most folks cause I will sound stupid during my interviews. It's no shortcuts in life. Plus, with college I can take and educational leave of absence from my job when I do my internships.

Yea it’s a lot of pipe dreams in tech. A lot of the folks that are selling courses are just trying to make money. It takes years to gain the skill set to where you are comfortable and move up and make more money.

I know people that have done the program and gotten a job with it however if you don’t have any experience idk how valuable it would be for you in the beginning of your career

Boyd’s course is typically good for people who already have some type of experience, that’s not to say someone with no experience couldn’t take his course and land a job, anything is possible 🤷🏾♂️ My recommendation to anyone wanting to go the GRC route is to see about starting in IT auditing.

From what I heard there is no set price. People are being told different prices after their “consultation” to me that’s enough to give it a hard pass. Not saying people are not successful but it’s becoming sketchy and seems more like a money grab IMO. Definitely try to find more people who actually paid and completed the program before joining.

Yeah y’all gotta call these people out who are making these “bootcamps” and promoting this nonsense. I’m starting to see somewhat reputable podcasts starting to interview these same scammers, now it’s making me side eye the podcast all together. There needs to be a vetting process for who gets interviews etc or some type of disclaimer. It’s all business tactics at this point. People are trying to come up off of people who want to change their careers. It’s sad out here.

@@TechTualChatter It's definitely happening there. Plus the people pushing the courses leave out the fact that the attrition rate is very high. If you don't meet quota in the time frame given, you're fired. Not to mention the burnout.
