Aussie here and yes wallabies and kangaroos are very common in the more regional and surburban areas here. Most actual kangaroos are huge and usually live more in the dense bush so you dont see the big ones much but wallabies are smaller and very common. Unfortunately there are alot of them and many end up as road kill on our busy roads and as they often get stunned by the lights and head onto the roads at dawn and dusk. Very cute and glad you enjoyed one of our natives 🙂

Australia rep here (from Brisbane): it's always really cool to see baby kangaroos, especially in the wild. Perhaps a little troubling is that they are part of petting zoos in a different climate in a different part of the world. However, at the same time it's very educational and so lovely to see your wonderful kids interacting with all the animals with such enthusiasm. :)

Agreed. I love these guys and I’m not judging them at all, especially as I don’t know the whole story, but I do wonder how a joey ended up in a petting zoo on the other side of the world, and where they got it from. I hope it is very well cared for. As for the question about seeing them, for me I would not be shocked at all if someone pointed a kangaroo out to me somewhere near where I live. I have definitely seen them. That being said I’ve also deliberately gone to wildlife parks and been excited to see them up close.

I agree too. Also from Australia. Over here it would usually be a rescue where the mother was hit by a car and someone was hand raising the Joey, so wouldn’t be so unusual to see this. But it does seem unusual to have a Joey on its own over there on other side of the world.
@aviolet3981
@aviolet3981 2 жыл бұрын
As an Aussie, it’s always cool to have access to a joey because being able to pet them in your own home isn’t common! It only happens when mum gets run over, and you are supposed to hand them over to approved fosterers. It’s more odd that you’re calling it a kangaroo. That’s like calling a python a cobra or a chihuahua a Doberman. It’s some kind of wallaby. My dad has them in his backyard and still thinks it’s cool to see them every day. Bottle feeding a Joey is pretty special tho ❤️

Lots of people who foster and rehabilitate joey's (baby kangaroos) keep them in pouches. They will often wear 2 across their body at once, and hang others from door handles. When they are found and rescued, from their mother's pouch, the mother has often died on the side of the road after being hit. Many died in the summer bush fires also. Wombats also have similar care.

Hey from down under. After living in Australia for the first half of my life, then Utah for 25 years, now back to Oz for a few, I have experienced both worlds. Kangaroos don't end up in the cities very often, but occaisionally they will wander in. Very common in the country areas. Much like deer in Utah. You have to be very careful on the highways especially at dawn and dusk. They will really mess up your car. However, while living in Santaquin for a while it was cool to wake up to cougar tracks in the snow across the back yard. Now that was a buzz. Anyway, I could be mistaken, but wasn't that actually a wallaby at your backyard zoo? Oh, and for years a guy had a few kangaroos on his farm in Springville. Still that was a cool thing to do for your kids to let them experience some fun animals.

Aussie here -Kangaroos have a longer snout. I think that’s a wallaby! In answer to your question about how common roos are here, they’re very common to see on country roads or in the hills (depending on where you live). You do see them hopping along in the suburbs sometimes too, particularly the further away you get from the capital cities. However, there was a kangaroo hopping through the adelaide CBD not too long ago. We don’t really get a chance to pat them because they’re fast and aggressive. You might get to pat a kangaroo joey at a zoo or something though. As for wallabies, we don’t really see those hopping about in the suburbs. More so in “the bush” (country). You can definitely find wallabies in zoos though. Almost all wallabies are critically endangered/ threatened/ vulnerable to extinction. In fact, two species of wallaby, the Victorian brush tailed rock wallaby and the southern brush tailed rock wallaby are so endangered that sometimes they take the joeys from these wallabies and give them to yellow-footed rock wallabies who act as surrogate mothers. This enables the brush rock wallabies to breed again and produce more offspring rather than feeding a joey for 6 months. Kangaroos are pretty cool, but even though wallabies are smaller, they’re pretty cool themselves!

Dave, its perfectly normal and understandable to be excited and in awe to see in close proximity a creature that you never seen close up before, let alone a non native creature in your very own home. And Kangaroos are very unique looking compared to most wildlife in the USA, so I totally understand the surprise and excitement... Im an Aussie so I was like what Claire was saying "where did you get the Kangaroo?!" lol. thats cool that you guys had that experience with the kangaroo and had the other animals there too as a celebration. :D

Hi from Australia: Having a kangaroo in your backyard is VERY cool! People here would think that too. Looks to me as though that it is a wallaby not a kangaroo (but they are very similar).

Little Wallaby they are not common in the city but very common in the country, although the National Parks within cities have them, like the bush land around Sydney Harbour. I have to say just being an Aussie but I wonder how he got such a young wallaby without its mother. In Australia that can be common because mum has been hit by a car & the wildlife rescuers raise them in bags, as a baby like that still spends a lot of time in his mother’s pouch. Beautiful thing to do for the children. Love their reactions x

What a cute video! This has Tobe one of my favorites! My youngest grandchild turned 15 this week so this reminds me of the joy the grandchildren had when they were little. They loved exploring (exploding ;)) and learning about their world! They're so innocent and ignorant about how difficult the world can be. I'm so glad to see how much you enjoy one another.

In Australia, it's usually pretty common to see kangaroos, wallabies, padymelons etc. around the place like if you live near the bush they'll come along and you see them pretty much every day. But, as you might expect, they're not exactly tame so it would still be pretty exciting to have a baby one in your house that you can pat 😂

I bet your neighbors always wonder you are going to do next. Lol. You are doing such an amazing job creating memories that your kids will be telling their kids. Hey Grandpa, is it true one day you came home with a baby kangaroo? Mama Claire told us the story. Uncle Carson, Aunt Millie and Aunt June told us it was a great adventure.

Maybe not. Cisco Morris said if it wasn’t watered regularly during the 100 - 106 degree days, the roots are dead and won’t come back. Best to rake hard, add top soil and over-seed when the rains come in the fall. Can we still be the Emerald City?

Now, this was a video I wasn't expecting! I loved watching all of Claire's, Carson's and June's reactions of surprise, so cute. Your family always makes me crack a smile and laugh with the love, laughter and simple fun you always share. It's so good to see :) As an Australian who has never moved in my 20 years, I can say that whenever I see a kangaroo I'm not that surprised. However, I only see them in the countryside, as I live in an area where the city is only up to an hour away, give or take (the traffic), so you don't see kangaroos in your backyards like you guys would see bears, deer, squirrels and raccoons. Now, I would be excited if I saw any of them, especially a deer as I've never seen one from even a distance. My parents did once when they were on vacation in the hills. Also snow! I've only ever seen and touched snow once when I visited the mountains a few years ago. For one that loves Winter and Autumn, I'd love to spend a white Christmas one day.

What an Amazing life your kids get to live life like this not many kids would get the chance to do what your children have done. Especially Claire able to travel do full performances like she has. You are doing an Amazing job raising them even though you have plenty of money to spend on them you teach them that money doesn't grow on tree's. But they are very blessed in what they get. Thanks for taking us along on your Amazing lives. Didn't see this one coming at all of 😉😉👍😄❤👏

I am against so many family vloggers, because so many exploit their children for views. I do believe that the Crosby family is the one exception to this. Yes, the children are filmed, but not everyday & not when they get injured or are upset or during private moments. This family shares joyful adventures & has good boundaries. I think they are a beautiful family doing KZfaq the right way. Thank you!

I think that this is about the family as a whole, not just Claire singing anymore. Last I heard she was having singing lessons, but I think most likely Dave and Ashley are keeping her grounded, and having time to just be a kid. It is great to see when Claire sings though, and her voice has just improved and grown so much, her high notes and the length she holds them for just amazes me. When they do post a song, the improvement in her voice is even more dramatic because it’s such a gap between songs. It’s also a lot of work. They all need down time as a family, and I’m sure we will get to see Claire sing soon 😁

Love the way of how much your kids take care, love, and respect animals. Even though they were surprised to see them, because they weren´t expecting an adventure like this, they were so kind, curious, loving, and respectful to them. I think June was so hilarious with all her comments and really liked the beautiful turtle. Claire and Carson were so amazing as they always are. Thanks for sharing. Infinite love and blessings always dear Crosbys.
