Which feature did you like more?! AIR or FLAT

I like the way that AIR sounds.

AIR sounds more like a live recording. FLAT sounds more like a studio. Definitely like the Flat more.

Yup there's a difference and can be understood quite well I think.

I like the Air for really open and ambient sounds. I like the Flat for the minor focus and seeming compressed sounds. I would lean to the Flat for everyday play. Thanks Kristina!

Hey first of you are an awesome drummer! Thank you for your content! Yes, definitely the "air" adds... no surprise.. "air" :) The OH had a little too much top end for my liking. I liked the flat, fuller sound on the OH. I would however probably love the air setting on the room mikes! Mix that in with the flat on the OH and I think you'll have a perfect capture. In fact with a reverb or room sound, (to my ears) it sounds better to not have the boominess, and so enhancing the highs works fantastic. And for those transients, you have the OH & direct mikes. So a mix and match! In fact it will help the rooms and OH blend since they are not occupying the same frequency spectrum! And for the vocals, depends on the style of the music. For a poppier vocal where you definitely want that top end, that sweet air, that sugar on top, the air definitely makes sense. But for a more indie, rounded, sound, the flat setting can be very beautiful. Again... this is to my ears :) It's exactly like choosing what note to play... depends on your mood and what you want to express at that moment in time :) You are amazing and keep making awesome content ! \m/ \m/

Great!! I could only hear a difference while using headphones. Flat seemed to make it louder. They were both close but I like Flat. The voice part I like it when you were right in front of camera versus when you were on the throne. Couldn't really hear a difference when you were on throne between air and flat for voice part. Overall sounded great!!

The Lewitt mikes pick up the echo in the room whether drumming or talking where the mike you're using after the 2:30 mark doesn't. I like the Air more in that setting. Can they be filtered to minimize the echo. That would likely change the sound of the drums in air and flat.

Awesome listening test! I could not hear a difference on my phone but with headphones, I have to say I liked AIR better!

What size cymbals do you use?

Air picked up more of the room echo, where flat tuned that out. The air sound was fine and not really distracting, but to hear the drums more "purely" I think the flat was better. They are both good, just depends on what you are looking for.

I liked the air setting more. Idk just sounded better. Couldn't tell a difference in how you had them set up.

Personally I prefer the flat, but then again, I do like to have as little ring out from my kit as I can get, however I can see where the air setting could be a benefit depending on what you doing. As far as the vocal side, didn't hear much of a difference, but you can also hear quite a bit of the echo coming from the room that your set up in. I think there might be a more noticeable difference if there was more sound proofing within the room itself.

Gonna have to go with flat on the drum section / weird the vocals air sounds like a live recording the flat sounds more like a recorded vocal ... i think it depends on the type of video your doing before you pick air or flat but to answer your question i like the air just a. They actually sounded really good. They sound like high end mics. But I was surprised they only like 289 for 2. Or 149 for one. I might have to get these ones. And for the record, the air setting sounds much better

Hi! Like I read in the comments below, both features are great and sound great, it all depends on the context of the recording and the intention behind it. Personally I like more the AIR feature, it gives more of a realistic sound to me.

My thoughts I liked the air for everything except in the room setting the flat sounded better.

Definitely notice a difference. I like the flat, because it's not so boomy and echoey. Question I wanted to ask, not being a recording musician myself, why are you playing in such a reflective room? It doesn't look like you have any sound dampening at all... Just wondering why that choice. Cheers!

In ancient times, I worked on speech and voice recognition systems (yes, there is a difference). We had a saying, "The waveform don't lie." If you're looking for repeat biz, perhaps including the wave form (graph) on the screen at carefully selected times in the next video would be something they might be interested in. If you care, I will jot you some notes about a possible script outline pitch for a second sponsored video.

Maybe it's my imagination but the flat setting sounded just slightly more muffled than the air setting, which sounded just slightly more clear to me.

I actually liked the air setting better. Back in the day (in a previous life) I think I would have used the air feature for my vocals. I have kind of a deep voice and the flat setting seems a bit deeper by itself - combined with a deeper voice I likely would have sounded like it was over bassed or missing trebble, something like that. Honestly me personally I liked the flat setting better. I really didn’t think I would have heard a difference but there was a big difference. But yeah have a good day , keep rocken!!!!

Ok I like the flat the best. I know its flat but to me it sounds richer and fuller of that makes sense? Especially with the toms, to me sounded like a full and warm tone. Toms sounded great! (It all sounded great but IMO the toms stole the show). Hope this helps?

Air...the sound trails off a bit where as Flat is cut off, I guess each has a function for recording but for live I believe Air would sound better, can't be sure seeing as though this is recorded.

FLAT gives a clear sound but Air gives a fuller sound. I'd use air setting for over head micing.

I hear that there's a difference but I can't describe it, it sounded slightly sharper in the "air" feature. But it's so subtle I couldn't hear it in the voice testing. There should be some other difference, but I don't get it

Before I share my opinion of how it sounds, let's first discuss the listening environment. IMHO if you're listening to this from a cheesy little kazoo speaker on a cell phone or tablet, thanks for playing. My audio is taken from an HD audio sound card in my PC and feeds directly into a 100w/channel, old school Yamaha "Zero Distortion Rule" amp and then out to a set of Pioneer CS-903 speakers with 15" drivers. Some type of high quality playback equipment is essential to offer an informed opinion. For our purpose today, we will also disregard how KZfaq processes audio data. All things considered, I thought that the "Air" setting produced a crisper and more detailed program in all examples. Best regards.

Feature Air sounds great...it sounds like hard rock drums.(Motley crue T.Lee,Kiss,Europe etc).

Whatever mic was at the beginning had a very arena like reverb. Almost an announcer quality. I didn't notice any real difference on the drums, though flat may have punched my subwoofer a bit cleaner. For the vocal air v. flat, I prefer the air, the flat has a weird reverb to the vocals that I just don't think works well in this format.

Flat sounds better, cleaner...especially with the drums it cleaned up the distortion and got rid of some of the high end. Both sounded good though, like in a recording you might want that higher pitch in your face sound on a song,ya know? I'm listening to this through an android speaker phone and yes I can hear a very subtle difference. Situation 1 both mics: not much of a difference between the features. Situation 2 single mic: Air sounded fuller featuring the slight reverb after your drum hit. Flat I thought cancelled out slightly this echoey reverb produced in air to make it sound like you're playing in a padded room with no sound reverb off walls. Situation 3: vocal not much difference between features except I would say Air had the edge with the echoey reverb than the flat feature. You still heard the reverb but not as pronounced as air. Final verdict Air just has the edge but I'll be honest both sound good and I'm sure in the right setting will complement your playing. Btw noticed the difference more than other 2 with single mic in 1 room. test

Considering that they are microphones for studio production, one should stick with the setting Flat. The setting Flat seemed to make the sound more warm with less over tones from the kit...The setting Flat can make a new pair of cymbals sound "broken In." Which is a big deal within the drumming community (we all know that appeasing warm sound from a set of used cymbals. Also, it is neat that I can attain that sound from new cymbals by simply using the flat setting. Woot). However, if you want to Metallica that sh#$T! LOL. Put the setting on AIR for more of a live punk rock sound. Cool demo!!! Keep jamin!!!!

To be perfectly honest here between the two settings u have i too agree it does depend on what is your doing but i believe you're going to be better off sticking with the air setting in term's of your playing and recordings of your demo,s and for your vocal setting an preference tbh both didn't sound too bad at all so u could use one or other and switch them up.
