I am 32 and had my first freestyle wresting class today. I have a background in boxing and a little bit of BJJ but nothing prepared me for the intensity of this class. It was fun nevertheless and I will definitely keep on going. Just remember when you are older and your body is not used to that kind of "grind": train smart and take some breathers in between. I am not aiming to compete any time soon but I think it can be a fun hobby and an obviously great addition to your BJJ game. Thank you for your insights! Best wishes from Germany!

Great, I hope you will stay injury free, the best way to do that is to add some strength work to your routine as a preventative measure. Good luck with the wrestling!

@@smoothproductions725 Thank you! I will sure have to adapt my gym sessions to this new hobby and also add (lots of) cardio. The most important part is to stay injury free after all!

Badass....I've been doing wrestling my whole life. I can't imagine doing it in adults hood tho very hard on the body. RESPECT ✊️ catch wrestling is also bad ass.

I just want to learn the basics and have a bit of fun .... I am a big dude at 51 yrs old, with a background in boxing. We have a local school in my city, that said they would happily have me come and train... so just dealing with some knee issues, and then going to try it out. Going to take it slow and easy, and just go at a pace that works.

@@lxdesign1 hopefully you can do a couple of sessions per week, start off slowly and work on your mobility!

I'm 22, I know I'm obviously an adult but I feel like I'm still young and athletic enough for the bodily constraints not to hold me back as much but I'd like to know from you on this. Am I in the same boat?

@@smoothproductions725 ngl I haven't, I did some 800m competition earlier on, like year 7-9. But I have been doing calisthenics for a few months now if that makes a difference

@@NoRockinMansLand are you in good physical shape ? The calisthenics is a good base

@@smoothproductions725 yes I would say I'm in good shape. I'm around 15% body fat I believe. I am pretty light though if that matters, I'm going on a slow bulk rn since I want it to be consistent for a year or 2

@@NoRockinMansLand you should try it then if you have a class for adults near you, preferably at a pure wrestling club rather than an MMA gym in my opinion.
