Trying to biblically prove to my friends that you cannot "give up" or "give back" my salvation.

But my point was the possibility of falling away after receiving salvation will always be there while we're here on Earth. While we can know by assurance that we will be saved as we continue in faith, none of us are saved yet as long as we're still here on Earth, not until Jesus comes back. Our free will gives us the option to endure in our faith to the end or turn back to our sin and our old ways. It says "The one who endures to the end will be saved" (Matthew 24:13) and there are also people like the man I mentioned in my 1st post who was a believer that is now living in a gay relationship who still believes he is saved. Many like him unfortunately without even realizing it have thrown away their assurance of salvation because again sin is the one thing that does separate us from God. He was bearing fruit by the Holy Spirit, now he may be bearing fruit by the Spirit of man or the enemy. Even the lost can bear fruit like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,, gentleness and self control, but may not come from the spirit of God. In his case, he might go the rest of his life believing he's still saved while disobedient to God's Word, and it is written "For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt." (Hebrews 6:4-6) I get it. Its so much easier to spout things like once saved always saved, we are saved by grace not works, I can do anything I want because God will forgive me and has already sealed me. I get it. It's so much more attractive and pleasing to accept the more positive scripture while ignoring anything that speaks of discipline, consequences, falling away or anything else with a negative connotation. We say things like "salvation? savior? Oh give me that I gotta have that..repentance? surrender? Lord of my life? Giving up control? Nah I don't believe in that." But it is SO important engrave the whole of God's Word in our hearts and not cherry pick only the ones we like or want to hear while throwing accusatory comments towards other believers trying to sharpen you and label them as religious or hateful. This is so important. Our people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, but THE truth not half truth, will set them free. 3

My question is: Why does God's Word say that He can blot you out of the Lamb's book of life? Thanks and God bless LHC!

If that's what you choose, that's what He will do. Remember it's never God that walks away, it's us. Once we decide something evil/sinful,dark/worldly is worth walking away from God for, He doesn't stop you from walking away. He gives you over to it, and blots out your name. "For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance. Everyone who is born is added to the book of life. God is not willing that any should perish. So everyone is added to the book of life. But! Unfortunately, there are many who reject God and reject his salvation through our God Jesus. Matthew 10:32“Therefore, everyone who will confesses me before others, I will also confess him before my Father in heaven. “But whoever denies me before others, I will also deny him before my Father in heaven..." Those who deny Christ will lose their place in the Lamb's book of life. They will be blotted out in the last day. Revelation 3:5 In the same way, the one who conquers will be dressed in white clothes, and I will never blot his name from the book of life but will acknowledge his name before my Father and before his angels." Revelation 20:15 And anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. So in summary, God doesn't want any to perish and evidence for that is that everyone alive has their name in the book of life. But if you deny Christ, he'll deny you before the Father, and then your name will be blotted out of the book of life. Our names are NOT added when we get saved. Our names are added when we are conceived. Names are removed because they deny Christ.

@christwithken So, then you CAN lose your salvation if a person chooses to walk away from God, correct?

@christytrammell6239 1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us. In other words, if you walk away from God, it's because you were never of God. So this verse helps demonstrate that this isn't the loss of salvation but this is evidence they were never saved to begin with. Those who are truly saved do NOT choose to walk away from God.

@EricCouture315 thats not who hes talking about. 1st john isnt about believers. It's about those who profess Jesus within the church at the time but ultimately deny christ or some aspect of essential doctrine like sin. That is what Jhon is dealing with people who believed that we have no sin.

I know this topic will always be fought tooth and nail over but hear this out. I believe you can lose your salvation. Notice Romans 8:35, 37-39 does not mention sin. Nothing can separate us from the love of God that has to do with other powers, people, creatures, natural disasters etc...but the one thing that remains true since Genesis is sin. Sin is the one thing that separates you from God. I can say I'm saved now, but tomorrow reject the grace/forgiveness by falling back into sin, turning away from God, running back to sin due to unbelief, pride, anger, whatever it may be. I can't receive forgiveness that I don't ask for, and if my heart isn't genuinely sorry, that means I never truly asked for forgiveness, because receiving salvation requires a repentant heart. For example, I know a guy who was a believer who turned gay and is in a homosexual relationship, after divorcing his wife. He still believes he's saved. But he isn't repentant. He went back to a sinful lifestyle indulging in it. Sin is undeniably the one thing that DOES separate us, which is why it isn't included in the list from Romans 8:35,37-39. Just to be clear I am not saying we are completely sinless after salvation, I'm not talking about making a mistake out of character then we lose it, no that's not it. What I am talking about is you can lose your salvation by throwing it away voluntarily by running back to live as a slave to your sin again, perpetual sin. As we still have freewill, providing the options to not be led by the Holy Spirit and walk away from God.

There are a number of “if …then” statements that point to the conditional nature of salvation. “If you continue in My word” “if you continue to abide in the faith” “if you remain faithful unto death” are a few examples.
@itskenlang
@itskenlang Жыл бұрын
@@jcsman4244 Oh that's right. You said it better in fewer words with THE Word. Another one that stands out from Jesus himself is "Whoever loves me will keep my commands" and the dreaded "I never knew you."
@jadtucker1972
@jadtucker1972 Жыл бұрын
@@itskenlang Interesting Jesus didn't say, "I knew you once, but now I no longer claim you as my own." He said He "never knew you". Compare this with Jesus saying in John 10:28-30, "I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; no one will snatch them from my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them from my Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.” Just because someone claims to be a Christian or even acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God is saved. Even the demons believe that and tremble. We don't have to fret, though. Jesus says we can know we are saved because we will bear fruit. James states the same when he states faith without works is dead. It doesn't mean works are required but rather works or fruit demonstrate outwardly what has transformed us internally. It's the Holy Spirit that helps us to remain connected to the Vine.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. The literal fruits of the spirit.
@itskenlang

Galatians 5:22-23 "The Fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Against such things there is no law." This is the fruit we bear as we walk in the Spirit. A lost soul may show these fruits but they like the lady who donates to charity all her life but doesn't know Christ, she bears them by the spirit of man or of the enemy. It's important to have the discernment God gives us to identify if someone is bearing fruit from God or if the spirit of their fruit comes from man or the enemy. That is why You need to repent, fully surrender your life to Jesus, be baptized in water and spirit so that God gives you the Holy Spirit to indwell inside you and you can perfectly bear these fruits.

Yes. We have free Will!! God didn’t create robots to worship Him!! We ourselves and only ourselves can reject Gods free gift of Salvation ! Man’s greatest enemy is himself! Only a person can turn his back on God Nothing else can separate us from the love of God.

We did not earn our salvation. How can you lose it? If our salvation was created by us there would be no one saved! We are not able to maintain it. Jesus Christ died for all of our sins. It is finished. The debt was paid. Now anyone can get saved by putting their trust in Jesus. You cannot lose salvation! But this is not a license to sin. You will suffer loss after loss and it will result in a loss of Eternal Rewards. But you will remain saved.

In the beginning we are saved made alive who were once dead in trespasses and sin. God delivers us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of his son. That's just the beginning of our lifelong journey our walk our conversion. We are out of Egypt but not in promise land yet. Jesus said everyone in his kingdom will not enter the kingdom of God in the end....the son of man will send out his angels and they will gather out of his kingdom all things that offend and those who practice lawlessness and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their father. He who has ears to hear let him hear.....for as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order Christ the firstfruits afterwards those who are Christ at his coming.....and as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgement, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for him he will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation......marvel not at this for the hour is coming in which all who are in the Graves will hear his voice and come forth those who have done good to the resurrection of life and those who have done evil to the resurrection of condemnation..........according to scripture when rightly divided all truth pertaining to salvation there is a difference between being saved made alive our conversion in the beginning and being resurrected unto life when Christ returns judgement our resurrection eternal salvation. That's why it not only matters if we believe remain faithful to Christ. It also matters how we live our walk our righteousness now in this lifetime. Has nothing to do with keeping Torah laws legalism or working for salvation......
