I have never seen thermostat do that, thats crazy how it even ran at all without overheating. For me they look a bit big(wheels). 14' works the wonders with these in 7 or 7.5" wide with some lip and a mild drop. Even wide 13" to give you that 70/80s look. But hey its your car😊 Awesome work so far, she looks solid from underneath.

The Yugo looks great and I have seen some weird things with cars but I have never seen a thermostat look like that!

Just as well those lugs aren't any longer. If you fit longer ones plus spacers, the threads will shred from those east block drums.

I owned a white one with grey interior (and the bigger rear lights) 25 years ago in Germany. It's a great little sturdy car. Build with license from Fiat in Yugoslavia (especially the engine looks quite similar). A lot of Fiat (spare) parts are matching.

That thermostat is wrecked! Maybe a fin of the water pump impeller broke loose and went through it? Think the wheels look nice. As far as wheel bolts go, ditch them, convert it to studs. Just my opinion from owning multiple VWs. Autocross will be cool, some guys being very competitive in old school Festivas/Fiestas.

I'm actually impressed with how it looks, I think it would be hilarious 🤣 to see it on the Dragstrip after your done with it and see what it can beat. You know if Jay Leno had one he would make it rear wheel drive and stuff some kind of mean drivetrain in it. Lol 🤣😆🤣

I went with 15" but they are way to big. They rub quite a bit and it would only be worse if i tried to lower it. Kompas Garage suggested I stick with 13" if i plan on lowering the car.

Looks like you're well on your way to transitioning from Yugo to You Glow. With frost plugs, block and water pump intact, I can't figure out how the thermostat turned into shrapnel. Must be the Delta Variant.

Upon further investigation, it looks like someone may have been hitting it with a screwdriver or something. Rather than remove the housing, maybe they figured they could punch a hole in it to open the flow.

Wheel looks like they are 6-7 inch wide. Save lots of money, junk yard some 5.5 wide Yugo alloy wheels 13 inch. 185/60/13 tires, by Achillies makes it close to keep standard gear ratio. Achilles is the only 185/60/13 easy to find, and max size if you want to lower the car. You have to flatten the rear inner fender edges and remove spacer.WHAT RIM SIZE IS THAT? OH, JUST HEARD 15 IN WHEELS. omg, SETS UP WAY TOO HIGH. Wonder if 1st gear will feel like 2nd on take off now? CMS Wheels use to make Fiat/Yugo alloy wheels, I have a sets of them.

They are 6.5" wide and are just a bit wide for the car, bit it can all be fixed. Currently I have less then $500 into brand new wheels and tires. I had a really hard time finding any stock Fiat/Yugo wheels that I actually liked that weren't $150 or more used. And the 13" tires, all I could find was winter tires or expensive tires. I would have spent more buying used wheels then I did goin 15". And don't worry about 1st gear, I'm not keeping this underpowered drivetrain. I'm not done with this car yet. We'll get it lowered and have these tires fitting in time. Stay tuned.
