That's crazy, 500 HP is now considerd mild. I just got slapped in the face and it hurts. You're telling me my 350 sbc on alcohol pushing 498 HP and 788lbs TQ is mild? Mayne how far we've come in automotive history. I guess its time for me to hang up my coat and relax now. Looks like I'll be converting back to 87 pump gas now. Good luck fellas and marry Christmas

Its sad but true 500hp is now mild because most street race applications are making 500-750hp and basic drag cars are pushing 1k. A 500hp car is still fast but not fast enough now days.

I did my L92. I had my heads CNC ported , Big ass cam ( Comp 235/251 621/624) and a Circle D 3200 stall , true dual exhaust and SENT IT TO THE MOON on 26s

I have a ‘13 Escalade and I put a magnuson supercharger, stage two cam, and long tube headers. I make decent power out of it. The shop that installed all of the stuff said if you wanna get serious power out of the transmission, your gonna have to build it up.

Yo, black guru I wanna know how nasty my setup that I should be finishing in the next few weeks will be. I gotta LQ9 in a 350Z. Motor has been disassembled and completely honed. I got bored 799 heads with .660 lift dual springs, BTR trunnion kit, mahle forged power pak pistons, TSP torquer v4 cam, dorman ls3 intake, sniper efi fuel rails, sniper efi 90mm throttle body, and arp bolt kit. Love your videos! Oh and I have 100lb injectors and a walbro 525 fuel pump

I just picked up a 2011 Denali, so I’m genuinely curious. Why do the lifters have a problem? I live down south so it rarely gets cold, but the couple of times it has, there was a subtle valve tick before oil pressure was at operating range. Is this a bad sign?

I know right I've done a few 😂 what I found is that it's usually cheap oil not changed often enough and a foot heavy seat to throttle pedal interface

@@AccordVR it’s the 6.2 and I don’t know the exact maintenance schedule but I do know it was a large family with a big chunk of money that had it before me. Some of the maintenance records were in the glove box and he was charged thousands for repairs (for simple shit) that he paid in full on the spot. So it seemed like the guy had no problem maintaining it.

The Nissan 5.6 puts out 400hp and 413 lb/ft of torque in a reliable application and has been around for almost 20 years now. Gm should be able to do MUCH better with those numbers for the size of the motor

My L86 6.2 makes 420 hp and 460 In/ft of torque. Not much of a difference

Buy some upgraded rockers for sure! …trunion kit is a cheaper alternative but I tried that and the first one I took apart went everywhere… good luck! Lol

You forget the rocker trunions. The injectors on the flex fuel engines are 50 pound so get the L94 or L9H. I wouldn't do a stage 2 truck cam. Truck Norris or Chopacabra. Speed Engineering headers and exhaust. Then the LSA blower or a cheap turbo kit with a GT45. And then get it tuned...

Try two turbos and some upgrades on the engine and u can get to 500, you won't touch 450 or 500 without turbos

I would say that these 6.2s have a tendency to pop ringlands on stock pistons. Maybe some cheap summit racing forged pistons would be worth taking a look at to help prevent this.

@@flakogonzalez2884 I used a set of forged pistons from summit racing on the LS pro series. So far with about 5000 miles of use they’re doing fine but that’s not very many miles so time will tell.

@@speedslayerr Bone stock they still aren’t reliable pistons. I bought a 2007 Escalade with a blown motor and it actually had 2 pistons out of 8 with cracked ringlands and they both had the pieces come off and cause serious damage to the combustion chambers.

Worth it in some applications for sure. I have a Yukon with the L94 and the e85 tune is worth it with a bigger cam. Still get 15 mpg…and sometimes half the price of premium

2007-2008 had the L92, the 2009 had the L9H , and the 2010-14 had the L94 . So I just avoid that 2010-2014 model cuz it has the afm

@@joshhuwhyte3988 actually it is the same league they’re both TT- SUV’s , however they aren’t built for the same purpose either , but we won’t act like a tune on Steve’s ride wouldn’t produce similar or close to the same power with a tune. At the end of the day though, it’s preference. Steve’s truck is a lot better in my opinion.

Go to a good performance shop and get it dyno tuned. They'll tune the transmission as well. I have a G8 with similar mods and the tune turned it into a different car.
