What you have to do is wrap your finger in a towel, and put it in a container of ice. Reattached fingers has been done before by plenty of surgeons.

My friend had a motorbike accident, his ankle and sole were 50% destroyed (His feet were almost separate, only the skin remained to hold them together), they collected the bone fragments and flesh from his feet and then took him to the hospital. Believe it or not, they were able to put the bone and flesh fragments back together, then repair the half-destroyed feet. After about 6 months of walking therapy, now he can return to his normal activities.

Our neighbor who is a farmer accidentally chopped his thumb with a machete while working. His wife (not a doctor) reattached the severed thumb back and wrapped with cloth. Overtime, the cut healed and the thumb lived although he cannot move normally anymore.

Happened to my uncle at a friend's party as teens in the 80s. They where all drinking and a fight break out. One girl pulled out a knife on his friend. He tried to grab the knife out of her hand and she ended up cutting off his index finger. Luckily he found the finger and was able to get it re attached. He said it was never the same after that and never full usage like he once had

for those wondering; rinse the severed finger with water > dry it with a paper towel > wrap it in a clean paper towel > put it in a zip lock bag > put that bag inside another zip lock bag with ice (just avoid direct contact with the ice as that will damage the finger even further)

When I was a child, I experienced a memorable incident. I inserted my right index finger into a door hinge, and someone closed the door completely. I vividly recall that half of my finger was left hanging by a thin tissue. A doctor, essentially a quack but my savior, managed to reattach my half finger and wrapped it in bandages. After recovery, my finger feels normal, but the nails grow non-uniformly.

My late Father in law cut his hand off completely with an electric saw. My Mother in-law got him to a hospital fast and they were able to reattach it!! It’s amazing how far medicine has come!!
