Luckily in South Africa we dont need the boots and "heavy" equipment - still good tutorial for when I travel to go on a surf holiday! Thank you for the great content. Love the back to basics aproach!

In my experience, hooded wetsuits are warmest. Also go a size larger than you normally wear for better movement.

If you can afford it, buy 2 wet suits. If you go back to back days like a weekend, it’s helpful and more comfortable putting on a dry wetsuit. If you need to, u can put it in the dryer but that will make it’s life span shorter.

My routine is rinsing everything in a plastic tub of fresh water ending with the wetsuit inside out. I hang the wetsuit to drip while wringing everything else out, squeeze more water out while on the hanger then carefully place the wetsuit in my washer around the outer edge by itself and run the SPIN ONLY cycle - no agitation. This gets a lot more of the water out. Then hang in in the garage with a good fan blowing on it. When the inside feels dry I reverse it & give it the fan treatment again. Usually takes about an hour or so & ready to go. Been doing this for years and had no damage at all.......
