Such a cool idea right? There are a lot of distilleries doing cool things like this around the globe. I was shocked to hear how much beer goes down the drain due to expired or being unsold. Glad to share this story. Cheers, -Jeff

Non-alcoholic beer. Make spirit from alcoholic beer & then add the spirit to non-alcoholic beer to make fortified beer.

Video idea and place for you to check out: In Rüdenau Bavaria there is a single malt whisky distillery called St. Killian. They have excellent whisky with what I think are the coolest looking bottles shaped like pot stills. Each whisky is numbered and my personal favorite is number Six 👍🏻 Also cheers from San Diego!

My, what an interesting idea! Shame they're U.S based, we had to chuck away a lot of beer during the UK lockdowns a few years back. I'd certainly want to try one of their whiskey creations.

Yeah, I was surprised how much beer goes unsold and goes pst expired date and essentially goes down the drain. I tried to get info on how they do it, but obviously they shared as much as they could. Yeah they also have an absinthe as well and experimenting with coffee like was mentioned I believe in the video. Cool concept indeed. Cheers and thanks for the support and comment. -Jeff

Up in Scotland Brewdog distill their bad batches into “Bad Beer Vodka” which isn’t consumer recycling/repurposing but the processing is likely the same

Can their whisky really be called that given it obviously has hops in its production process?
@drinkdestinations2 жыл бұрын
Great question, With a small number of exceptions, whiskey in the United States must: Be distilled to less than 95% ABV and stored in oak containers; Be bottled at a minimum of 40% ABV; and Possess the taste, aroma and characteristics generally attributed to whisky. These requirements apply to all whiskey, American or otherwise. To be labeled a straight whiskey, the whiskey must be aged at least two years and contain no additives. Within American whiskey, the law defines more specific categories of whiskey such as bourbon, rye, corn etc.
