I have to agree with you. As someone who’s just starting to dip a toe into video editing, I’m excited about the possibilities of traveling with the device, editing video in the evenings on LumaFusion and then kicking back with a HDR movie.

I agree. They need to just drop the iMac and give the new iPad Pros the ability to switch from the usual iPad interface to the iMac desktop interface. I'm in the market for a video editing Apple device and I'm leaning more toward the iMac because of this although I really want the iPad Pro.

Agreed. Waiting for true external monitor support. Waiting for someone to really address this issue in their videos and especially for Apple to solve it with IOS 15.

@@cslack813 With iPadOS they changed the way Safari reported its host computer. It was no longer reported as a mobile device but as a ‘real computer.’ The publisher my sister was trying to download textbooks from said they couldn’t be downloaded to a mobile device, only to a real computer.

Yea we need definitely more apps that have access and can edit from a external SSD drive. Apple should be ashamed about making it probably difficult to add this functionality to IOS-Apps. Does someone know some video editing apps beside Final-Cut, that would be able to use external SSD as editing possibility?

Wait even longer iPadOS 15 will not be out until this fall when the next iphone comes out. You have time, save some extra money and get the best option for your needs. Don’t forget the 2020 iPad Pro also displays hdr content.

There is absolutely no issue with the display. It’s really just people LOOKING for something to complain about.

Is there one? I'm not sure if the dimming zones go completely dark outside of HDR content or when the display is off. If they do, that could potentially create small pockets of lower contrast which you would describe that way, emphasis on the word "small." It's a better display than the one that came before. It's not going to bother you.

@@djsnowpdx You only notice the dimming zones when opening up the movie navigation menu (play pause) and yes the bars around the player go completely black. Not noticeable when watching content.

@@votaveri And it’s ONLY noticeable at MAX brightness in a completely dark room with very high levels of black and white contrast. Otherwise, you NEVER notice it.

@@IAMMARTA Hi Marta, I bought the iPad Air 4 Wi-Fi/cell 256gb, I would have liked the Pro but just couldn’t stretch the € that far, mainly for more storage 256gb is the smallest I want, 512 would be better but another 400 €. I don’t buy this idea of only minimum storage and using external HD, minimum on the Pro is 128gb which is only 50 € more than the Air 4 256 which doesn’t work for me. The Air 4 can handle everything thing I throw at it, the only thing the Pro has that’s better is Thunderbolt & USB-4, USB-C is defiantly slower at file transfer to external SSD which I do a lot but it’s not a deal breaker. I also have the Logitech Crayon & keyboard case which having function keys is way better than the Apple keyboard as the iPad is my main device, the old 2009 iMac is gathering dust.

I’m still using the iPad Air 2 to edit videos in 2023 💀 it’s on life support so I desperately need an upgrade

There are a lot more people using devices that can display hdr content then you seem to think. My 2017 10.5 iPad Pro can play hdr content. Please feel free to make hdr content for people to enjoy.

And you only have the better screen on 12.9. You can do everything with the older models too. If you only watch films, web browsing, etc., that's enough.

@@melodypatrice Not worth it IMO. The hardware is just too advanced for the os and software.

They're likely going to have to update the apps to take advantage of the new processor. Once it's optimized for the new hardware, that's when we'll really see the huge benefit and speed increase of the m1

Well.. on my non pro ipad it takes about 15 minutes to copy 30gb worth of video with an sd card reader...id imagine with this ipad it would take much less time say about 5 minutes?

The only reason I'm snagging myself an iPad pro is the ability to photoshop with the pen. I've heard and seen great things online. I'd be surprised to hear a mouse work better.

He made two previous videos about the base line 128gb IPad Pro. One stating why he got the base line and another unboxing video… who know tho if that’s what he’s using here.

@@Maybelove88 technically you can do the same, the resolution is the same, you just have to sit a little bit closer to the screen 🙂, the advantage from the iPad Pro 11" is that it is smaller, and lighter and easier to take with you your travels. I'm traveling on an Off-Road motor bike, and the 12" iPad Pro would not fit into my Moskomoto 80L reckless bags. The biggest Elifant in the room although is not addressed in this video, and that is how to edit all that GoPro media and high resolution Photo's taken an a multiday trip. I had a 1TB SSD T7 with me, and spend most of the time to move it first to my internal storage from Flashdrive reader, (or via wifi GoPro to iPad ... but that is slow to my opinion), than plug in the T7 SSD, and move it from the iPad to the external drive. This is a time consuming way, and dit not work from me, because at the same time I wanted to use GoPro Quick on the iPad to do some editing, but that filled up my iPad PRo's internal SSD storage in no time. That had the effect that I could not download my 128GB SD-Cards, mostly one day of shooting. (which only one camera, imagine what happened when I wood use two hahaha). to solve that I had to move it in portions ... etc. etc. so not the way to go. The only way to solve this if you use a USB-C HUB, so you can connect the 1e the external power to the hub, 2e insert the SD-Card to the HUB, 3e Connect the T7 external SSD to the HUB, and copy the daily footage directly to the T7 SSD. but than arises the next problem ... you can not access the video data with the GoPro Quick app, or any other common video editing App (to my knowledge) and edit it from the external drive. So this is very frustrating and I have to consider a different workflow to handle video editing on the go. The lack of a good file browser (where you at least can see the amount of data there is in a folder ... that is not possible on the files-app from iOS (I'm running 15.7.1). Apple should be ashamed of this, and stop claiming that you can do almost the same as on a desktop computer running MacOS ...that is not trough. The most important element is missing and that is a decent file-browser.

@@Boudi-xy9by thanks so much Boudi, things may have been different if I caught ur reply earlier… but I ended up ordering ipad 9th generation.. it should work for me for drawing and notetaking and watching vids while working out. Gave up on relying on an ipad as only device and bought a lackluster laptop as well for some video editing and potential online schooling. Thanks
