All I can say is I don't know how they managed to stay so grounded and calm during this. I live in L.A. and have since I was 6. Not sure if I saw this at the time, but what an unorthodox press conference with everyone talking at once. They were magnificent. John was so funny! Thanks for posting.

In 1964, the novelty of conquering America was still fresh, you can tell they're fairly upbeat and taking it all in, their first North American tour.

The exact date of this press conference is August 18th 1964, just before the day the beatles started their 1964 North America Tour in Daly City. The August 23rd conference was another one which was set in Cinnamon Cinder nightclub(they performed in Hollywood Bowl after this)

My thought for The Beatles on KZfaq is always - just when you keep thinking you've seen EVERY photo or film or video or audio, there is always more. Of course I cannot 'hear' this one (lousy sound! 🙂 Sheesh! Ha ha! 🙂) but I can 'see' it.

Let’s see. We’ll try to answer your stupid questions. Say aren’t you just four Elvis’s? Then they break into Elvis impersonations. Funny guys! They ask some inane questions. Like Are you enjoying your success? All four in unison reply: No! How do you find America? We turned left at Greenland! How long do you think you’ll last? Answer: At least until next Tuesday! I love deadpan answers! That’s my kind of humor. John says: we’re just well groomed like Horses. That’s amusing! 👏🏻🎸😎

John only said '"We're just well groomed."', while Ringo said '"Like horses."'. There was also some insane questions the reporters ask Ringo such as: Why was he in the hospital for, was his voice (or throat) the same after he got his tonsils removed, does he keep his rings on at all times *(Sometimes reporters ask Ringo questions about his rings, and I wonder if he gets annoyed by that.)* . But the most insane question I hear the boys get is about their hair and is it short than The Rolling Stones' hair.

In 1964, the press really like to ask The Beatles about if they get haircuts and they have to say it's the truth. 2/7/1964 George Harrison: "I had one yesterday." 8/18/1964 Ringo Starr: "In fact I had one last night."
