A fun review, Naomi. I'm a buff of the War of 1812, which is a fascinating time and place in History. Appreciated the references about the Trade Company, which I'm assuming is the Hudson Bay Company? The city in which I was born and live (Vancouver, WA, USA) was established by the HBC, and so its always a heavily covered subject in the schools here. The original HBC fort has been reconstructed, and I tend to visit it on most days, weather permitting, for an early morning walk. It's a spectacularly beautiful site maintained by the US Park Service. On a couple of occasions I've participated on "Ghost Night" tours, dressed as an HBC clerk. No one minds if the tour guides make a lot of jokes. After your review, I'm certain that I'll be checking out the supplement. Thanks!

I might well look at this system, only heard of it from you - keep up the non-GW content even though I love all things GW 😍🇨🇦

Most eldritch joke you’ll read all day. What did the Sasquatch say to the abominable snowman on their road trip. “Are we there yetti?” I’ll see myself out.

12:09 Naomi starts speaking in tongues 😆 I will always love anything to do with the War of 1812. Having been raised within a days drive of most of the major battles on Canadian soil, it easily became a hobby. The fact that my uncle did reenactments didn't hurt. I would have liked to see a First Nations faction in a setting dealing with a conflict between British North America and the United States

Not hating on GW, but more non-GW content is cool. Do you think you will check out Para Bellum's Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings?

US children are taught the War of 1812 and the fur trade, but retaining that information is far less likely. I do not know how it works in other places, but typically, this is how it goes: Parent has child, typically out of wedlock and without the necessary financial capability to look after a kid. Parent goes on about the importantance of their child's education but derides anyone who is actually learning and never engages the child in active learning, typically leaving those responsibilities to the television, cellphone, and the child's peers. This typically includes behavior education as well. They also typically tend to dislike their own educational experiences and pass that to the child through commentary. Enters a completely unprepared child in public education. Child draws upon the tools given to them by parent and peers, and does not find them equal to the task. They then blame the system and begin hating it from day one. They then do the bare minimum to pass or don't and get passed anyway because of financial incentives schools have to pass the child. Meanwhile, because they are locked in a system they dislike, are bored, and are not properly taught social behavior, and are encouraged by their peers to act out, act like complete assholes and clowns, generally hampering the teacher's capability to teach(which is not much to begin with typically because the teacher came straight from college with no life or career experience before teaching). The remaining few students whose parents prepared them and taught them to enjoy learning are immediately ostracized by their peers and are effectively given social disadvantage due to constant bullying and ostracism. Then, the school is incentivized to cater to the lowest common denominator in learning capability in the classroom as they are funded based on graduation rates. So, the resulting effect is that social studies are effectively reduced to remedial courses past about 5th grade(the sixth year of education in the US). Literally just ask your children, your children's friends, or yourself the following questions that a 14 year old could easily understand if prepared properly( you have to remember that this is a student with 7-8 years of training): Outline and briefly summarize the major political boundary and influence changes that occured as a result of the 2nd World War by region then chronological order. Summarize the transition of pre-industrial economies in the United States to industrial economies. Summarize the outliers in maintaining the agrarian economies and balance of trade between industrial and agrarian economies. Define nation Define state Define nation-state Briefly summarize 5 effects of the French Revolution In what continent/region are these states located? Morocco Djibouti Georgia :) Tibet Tajikistan Andorra Trinidad and Tobago Kiribati Australia
