A lot of people are calling the instrument as Veena, but its not really Veena. That instrument is called Sitar. U cant play a Veena like that. I cant believe even South Indians cannot recognise a Veena apart from the Sitar. I'm not blaming anyone for not knowing, just a little bit surprised. Before trying to bombard my comment saying that I'm wrong, please do your research. I know because I'm an Indian Classical Musician and I know a Classical Instrument when I see one. Trust me. Its Sitar. Not Veena.

Honestly I was a little bit confused with the name of it! And Sitar literally means 3 strings. Si = سه = Se and Tar = String. In Farsi it means 3 strings and also there is another instrument in Iran which exactly has three strings and it is called سه تار SETAR

Ahhh. That is great! Sitar in Indian classical is predominantly used in the Northern part of India. The one that I am being trained in. Its called Hindustani Classical Music. Doesn't necessarily mean that its not being used in the South Indian classical (Carnatic Classical - pronounced as Kar-nau-tic). In South, Veena is the predominant instrument. Which resembles the Sitar but it has to be laid on the lap of the musician and it is significantly bigger and heavier. Sounds a little bit different to Sitar but for trained ears, there would be a lot of difference in sound, dynamics and everything.

@@IJayReaction and I am sorry for not thanking you for the information that you've provided. It was new for me. To my simple understanding, that might have been one of the variants of Sitar and may have been the origin too. Bcuz it all used to be under one providence during the rain of King Artaxerxes in the old time. Most of North India and it extended till most of the middle Eastern gulf countries. Maybe that's when it all started. And Indian Classical music has a lot of influences from Turkish, Persian music during the Mughal empires. South Indian classical music strictly adhered to the way it usually was (Devotional way) it used to be one. Just "Classical music". But then after the Mughal or other invasions, North Indian (Hindustani Classical) and South Indian (Carnatic Classical) got divided and still are around as one of the two complex classical forms of music in the world.

Actually it's not. The music used in Titanic movie was "Irish Tavern by Gaelic Storm" Whereas the piece used in Tushar Lall's video is "Toss the Feathers by Corrs" Both are totally different. Search em up and compare by urself.

Not really. The Irish music is one if the music piece by the group / band called The Corrs. This music piece is not a part of the Titanic movie.

@@sabarikrishnaj1750 yeah The veena is mostly used in Carnatic music recitals whereas, Sitar is mostly used in Hindustani music recitals. ... Both the instruments look almost alike by the inclusion of a long hollow neck and a gourd resonating chamber.
