Dominik Simon scored a Peter Forsberg-style shootout goal to give the underdogs a huge victory. It was the first Czech win over Canada in U20 history.

Curtis Lazar is actually so filthy, this kid will be gold in the NHL. I think he was taken somewhere 15-20 in the first round, I think he will be a steal. I see him become a skilled /smarter version of Dustin Brown or perhaps Ryan Callahan- captain material.

So what? Does that mean they suck? The Czech hockey, in general, is the best (in my opinion). They can and have beat every team there is.

@TheBaconOfCanada Memorial Cup 2013 winning players on this team number exactly two - and one sat on the bench again, as Jake Patterson could not stop shots coming against the rhythm of the play. That's a pull, Jake - no harm, no foul, and Fucale comes in. If Sutter doens't play Zach now, it's the ultimate Hockey Can prejudice against the Q - so often shown at camp-invitation-time for this team

@Mikro Poza wrong, dude - ask any goalie - no way your two players should have scored, they were indecisive, and that means, too slow - meaning, poke-check from the goalie, which Paterson did not do - notice what's happened now that Fucale actually has been put in net

this is actually the little arena for grp A to play their games, grp B such as sweden finland russia and norway play in a arena that houses 12 000 every game :)

jdubfb ubfubwbs Might be little arena but grp B didn't get much more people watching the game, only Sweds playing got people to go watch, not other teams. Other matches was like 1/10 seats being used. So noway "houses 12 000 every game"..

OMG last two Czech shooters gone way too deep and slow in shootout - AND BOTH SCORED - that is a horrible performance in the Canadian net i'm sorry to see just how bad it is) - these were two easy hold-your-ground pokechecks - the last one, embarrassing for a goalie, IMHO - I wrongly expected Fucale to start tournament - technique-wise he'd have turned this into a win, despite hot goalie opposite

They're not the top-1 team anymore. The top-4 of CAN, RUS, SWE and USA can be put in any order these days. They still have every chance to win gold.

Radek Černý Four countries have won every medal in the last 5 years at the U20 level, so I think it's fair to say they are the top-4. USA also has two championships in that time.

Last time USA won gold medal? 1983. Definetly not at top 4. I Would say top, 5 in any order: Can, Rus, Swe, Cze, Fin. USA have super players but they always seem less motivated than others.
