The Bluenose II wasn't built to be a racer but considering she is made from the same specifications I would say she was as fast, before all her refits, but it doesn't just involve how fast a ship is, but the experience of the crew and captain that man her as well, and the Bluenose had that experience with Captain Angus Walters and his crew. They were connected for sure. Yes it was a sad day when the ship was sold.

How sad that the Canadian govt. was too damn cheap to buy her and put her in a home, like the St. Roch. Bluenose II was nice, but if it's not the original, it's not the same.

I'm told that Bluenose II is not as fast as the original one . Can any one tell me if that is true ?

.....Bluenose 2 has a propeller that the original did not have.....under sail only.....it is a major drag on the ship.....
