Come and see what a Canadian garden looks like in May. It has been a warm spring and things are growing fast. I am already pulling out spring crops! Most of the summer crops are planted, just peppers and squash to go. This is the second tour of the year, you can find the first tour linked below.

So glad you found me too!! It’s harder to find the Canadian gardeners. I’ve never been to the east coast, my husbands family is from Nova Scotia, hopefully we will make a trip out there one day :)

Thank you :) it has been hot and dry this year. I have tried to stay on top of watering and we are probably 2 weeks ahead of normal :) It really is crazy how different the climates are across Canada.

Love your garden. Hi from north edmonton. I have a small garden but i try to use every bit of it. Last year we placed rased beds on our front lawn. After all you cant eat grass..

Thank you! And isn't that the truth :) That's so great you are able to have a garden and some raised beds. I am amazed at how much you can grow when interplanting. I find with raised bed there is a lot less wasted space than in my in ground garden. Hope everything's is growing well for you :)

That's so exciting you have some growing there!! I have not made horseradish myself before but will show when I make it this fall :) I am just going to follow the simple method of grated horseradish and vinegar. I may try one with beets too (I got the idea from The Veggie Boys on KZfaq).

Wow pretty good plants in zone 3 thanks for sharing, my question is did you started them in a greenhouse?
@FiveCanadianAcres
@FiveCanadianAcres 3 ай бұрын
I started them inside. I have a little greenhouse (one of those plastic ones you can get at hardware stores). It's set up in our shop with some good grow lights :)

I wonder if you could grow a citrus in an insulated trench, like the Russians used to do as far north as Moscow.

I personally will be sticking to things hardy up here in Prince George (including a vigorous pest tree I hope to "experimentally manage" as a source of some kind of wood, likely just firewood), and things I can transplant or translocate indoors, or that I just keep indoors anyways like peppers and some of the onions I'm growing to save seeds from.

I think you could, it would take a bit of planning and work. It would be wonderful to have a year round indoor greenhouse, maybe one day :)

@@jamescollinscares3897 Those all sound great! I love perennial herbs, like chives, thyme, oregano, mint and lavender (there are so many others as well). They can be harvested and also allowed to flower for the pollinators to enjoy.
