@rightgirlwrongplanet4 жыл бұрын
@@TheAaronChand this is true and chances are their accents and pronunciation would have been awful as they wouldn't have tried too hard, thinking themselves superior to their colonised natives. Their raison d'etre was different and their vocabulary limited to their exploitative motives. Would they know the word "woti" like Stephen, would they have a sense of dialect like Stephen, or would their vocabulary be more inclined towards raw materials like "chai" or "cheeni"? On the other hand, Stephen lacks any sort of superiority. He is genuinely interested and has worked very hard cross-culture to get it right, especially pleasing to millions of Punjabis. Stephen's fluency, pronunciation and vocabulary are superlative. I have genuine respect for him. The language dynamics of British Empire and Stephen are incomparable.

Chris Serrao Khalistani sikh terrorists killed 35000 innocent and armed less native Punjabi Hindus in 1980s. They also bombed Air Canada flight in 1985 which killed more than 300 Canadian men women and children. Victims are still awaiting justice.

He kinda focused in on the one language only and added on later. It's about focus. Also there is sooo much Bollywood stuff that helps. He grew up around punjabis so he gets the accent which helps and probably made him feel more encouraged. I am like that with Chinese. My accent is bang on.

Fuck you and your ignorant disrespect to the English and French who died by the millions when they were left in Canada to freeze and starve and only a handful lived on to create the communication we have today, and create through their sweat and tears the comfy lifestyle and luxuries we have today so that your ungrateful fat ass can sit behind their keyboard and make narcissistic and megalomaniac comments on KZfaq. It’s ridiculous people think they can move to a country and not speak its language, the idea is absolutely absurd, and disrespectful. I hope they deport your narcissistic ass.

There as a great bit I heard once that rings true here about listening to a language you don't understand and suddenly (and confusingly) hearing them use an English word that should definitely have a translation. In this context at like 1:05 when he said "parents" it threw me Edit: plus "classes" and "practice"
@androidfanclub4 жыл бұрын
Those words do exist however, they're more than often replaced by their English counterparts. It sounds weird but colonialism and now globalization are the reasons for this. The reason it's more noticeable however is because he pronouced the word "parents" in his native English accent. It would be slightly harder to catch those words if a native Punjabi spoke them, not impossible still.
